Well, lets look at it this way. The Calgary Flames historically suck something awful after the All-Star Break, they compounded this with their mandated PA break.

However, they werent exactly 'Hot Awesome' going into those breaks either and to say they've been wildly inconsistent is an understatement and an insult to the wildly inconsistent.

There are Meth addicts that are more reliable than the Calgary Flames.

Markstrom has sucked something awful for most of the season and Tanev....well, Tanev seems like he's subscribed to some bizarre version of 'Air Miles' for injuries, like he's awarded points for being hurt or something.

Now! They've gotten a long break. An opportunity to unwind, maybe do some soul-searching?

Tanev got some time to rest and heal, Markstrom had the opportunity to screw his head on straight and this team has undergone a great many changes during the off-season, so there is no logical reason to believe that historical trends should apply to this particular group of individuals.

So maybe they'll come out of this break refreshed, re-invigorated and they'll approach their upcoming schedule like a Bull in a China shop and just tear the back half of the season up!

Right? RIGHT??

Ugh...I think that level of attempted positivity has actually made me physically ill.

Chicago game was bad but the Flames won 3 of 4 going into the break including two of the best efforts of the season against Tampa and Seattle

Nearly the same as Carey Price, and in the same time period.

I think you meant to say "Sutter should have gone with....". Right? Because writing grammatically is actually intelligible.

I can, when Vladar goes cold. This team can't afford to give away points with sub par goaltending. Not only that what kind of message are you sending the guy who hasn't lost in regulation in like 12 games and kept the team in it? This is one of Sutter's biggest flaws and it might cost this team a playoff spot. I hope Markstrom proves me wrong but nothing I have seen this year indicates that will happen.

Markstrom and PP being considerably better for the remaining half of the season would be huge for this team.

Got bad news about the PP…

Until Andersson is moved off of it, it will not get better.

Interesting that Huberdeau didn't take a vacation like the others it seems.

I do think he's probably been nursing some type of injury all year going back to those games he missed earlier this year.

Vladar knows his role. I highly doubt he's shook up for not getting the start.

Markstrom can't afford to have any bad games but the team needs to step up too when he starts instead of expecting to win 1-0.

Disagree but understand. I'd start the hottest goalie going into the all-star break. Marky is the starter though. If he lays an egg tonight he should be the starter no more.

The problem is that we've said this too often.

It was too early to 'Panic about Markstrom' and then it just kept spiraling, then it was too late to panic about Markstrom.

Marky needs better support from his team. He’s had some good starts but zero help from team scoring goals. He’s been left out to dry as of late.

Is just not a good hockey hockey team an excuse? More of a reason.

We lost two elite talents and the replacements while OK are just that.

Before the break, my mind was set on "if Sutter goes with Markstrom right away after the break, that should be a fireable offence."

I've now calmed down enough to say, "if Markstrom sh*ts the bed tonight, but Sutter continues starting him with us out of the playoffs and only 30ish games left... THAT should be a fireable offence."

Basically, the Vladar vs Markstrom thing should be over and we don't have enough games left to keep screwing around... but I guess I'm on board with one more chance.

(not that I have any power at all to do literally anything with the team in any capacity whatsoever... and also not that my unhappiness with a roster decision will in any way, shape or form impact anything or anyone whatsoever)
