Yeah, I kind of agree. Sorry Rose, you're typecast in my books
I've seen her in other things, I remember liking her in 'Castle Rock' but for whatever reason she stuck out to me as out of place.
Even her dramatic moments just werent landing.
Anyways, other than that a wholly enjoyable episode with lots to like.
I do like little things such as when Ellie or Joel are ejecting the round in the chamber they always remembered to pick it up and reload it, this speaks to me again about the rarity of ammo which I thought was a nice tough.
It also made the losing of the truck and all of Bill's awesome stuff hit home a little bit harder.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
If I had one gripe it would be either the Character of Kathleen and/or the actress playing her?
How is this woman the leader of anything? This whiny, scared-looking lady. She just didnt convince me. Maybe she'll grow on me as the show goes on.
According to the podcast, you (and I as well) are "correctly mystified" to have that question -> "keep watching the show". Will be interesting where they go from here.
They also acknowledge people that have played the game will be "startled" a lot for the rest of series, won't necessarily have everything follow the game knowing the story of Henry and Sam. Fair, considering Bill and Frank treatment already.
Melanie Lynskey is a great actress. I suspect the next episode will show much more of why people in Kansas City began following the 'Kathleen' character.
Spoiler!
Although I worry her character will be a little too similar to David: at first appearing somewhat benign, before revealing their true nature...

I've seen Lynskey in a bunch of stuff over the years, going back to Charlie's stalker neighbour on Two and a Half Men, but until she said "dark side" in that Behind the Scenes interview, I had no idea she was from New Zealand.

I kind of wish Bella Ramsey was a better actor. It's really the only critique I have of the show so far. Her facial expressions in last night's episode was so deadpan during the shooting as she's not very good at showing expressions like when she was tearing up. Originally I wasn't a fan of the casting of her or Pascal but Pascal has managed to do Joel justice while I don't think Ramsey is there yet for Ellie.

Yeah, we watched her execute her childhood doctor. She seems pretty ruthless to me, and there's obviously a reason people are terrified of her & follow her. I also love Melanie Lynskey, so I'm really happy to see her in this show.

Tons of stuff from downtown was in that episode. I remember when they trucked in all the dead leaves I just about bailed on my bike trying to get to my office. One slip away from that sweet HBO money.
This is starting to feel like the whole same show as the Mandalorian with just a change of scenery, no helmet, and a little girl instead of a little Yoda.

I think she’s a good actor, just limited in that one area. I found her really good throughout the rest of the episode, but I agree her face doesn’t really register “anger” or “anxiety” or anything like that really well. She’s got the same expression 90% of the time, but at least Pascal carries their scenes when he needs to.

It’s the same, it’s just completely different in every way.

Yo lightsabers would be super effective against zombies. Can you imagine?? Love to see a crossover!
