I mean 8.5 for a 60 point player is a lot, I think Canucks got a decent return for him

I kind of amazes me GM's don't do "sign and trade" deals more often, Vancouver knew what deal he wanted but couldn't afford it and likely knew a trading partner.

I would rather have Naz at his deal we have him for.

Horvat is a overrated 50 point player making 8.5.

Players won't sign it without a NTC...why would they? So close to UFA you are going to pick where you are going

If Bo Horvat was a 50+ goal, 90+ point player - which is the pace he is on right now - this would be a great deal.

He is not. He is a 25-30 goal, 55-65 point player.

This is paying for a contract year production bump. This is going to be a bad contract on a team that already has several bad forward contracts. Potentially as soon as next year.

He's never going to match this season's production but it's along the lines of the Kadri contract when you consider the age difference (Kadri gets less because he's older) and similar production. Not terrible especially if the salary cap continues to rise.

2 more mil and they could have gotten Gaudreau.

Smells like a Skinner contract.

I dunno man, they're similar players but Horvat is 5 years younger

I don't think it's far to say that he doesn't have a few more PPG seasons in him. He is right in his prime right now and could easily just be realizing his full potential. It's not like the Canucks were having an extraordinary season that was pumping his numbers artificially high, like say Kadri or Huberdeau last year. At the very least, he has been extremely reliable and consistent since his very first season. That dependability is worth a lot.

I won't put stakes on it, but I bet he has a few more seasons at or close to a PPG.

Weird to think this, you have no idea what the first will be or how the players they acquired fit into their line up. Take a couple years to see how vancouver did in this trade

The first might be an impact player, it might even be a Bo Horvat. The other two are a B prospect and a third line winger. Would you have been happy with that return for Elias Lindholm? I think not.

Huberdeau has had 4 straight seasons over PPG...Horvat has one 61 point season. Canucks may suck defensively but they score goals. I think it will be harder to put up points with the Islanders if anything.

Beauvillier is a 30-40pt winger who makes $4.15m
Raty hasn't shown much but he's young and could still pop

I agree with the couple of years but safe to say they'll need to get a gem with the pick

so sign him with a NMC and then ship him out to wherever before it kicks in? Sounds like a terrible idea and bad faith negotiation

Good luck with other players in the future

If he was a pending UFA that we couldn't sign? Yes I would.

He has always had a high shooting percentage but 21% is unsustainable.

It does seem like a lot but you're getting his prime years at least so the Kadri comparison doesn't really work.

The Canucks have only scored 8 more goals this season than the Flames. I really don't think the team was inflating his numbers this season.

Well I think that’s what we’ll get, he’s going to cost a lot to resign next year and I don’t see how we make it work, three pieces with one being a first is going to be a good return. Only so many teams will be able to acquire Lindholm next year, similar to this year with maxed caps and limited assets
