Well now Habs fans want Wolf and a 1st for Anderson.

I don’t know if I would trade Vladar for Anderson straight up, let alone Wolf and a 1st.

2020-21 - 18W 3L 0T 1.80 GGA 0.940 SV (goalie of the year)

2021-22 - 33W 9L 4T 2.35 GGA 0.924 SV (goalie of the year)
2022-23 - 26W 6L 1T 2.19 GGA 0.928 SV (soon to be goalie of the year)

These number aren't just because he's been on great teams, he's been substantially better than the other goalies on his teams.

Please pretty please with a cherry on top find me another young goalie with these kind of numbers over a 4 year period.

No other player in the system is asked about to Treliving as much as Wolf, I know this for a fact!

Wolf truly is remarkable ... you never quite know how a player will translate but it's been established nicely by now that if you watch him at the AHL level, you'll pretty much always come away with a positive impression of him. Highly recommend you all check him out with the Wranglers down the stretch this year. He's their best player by a sizable margin.

Anderson is junk

Treliving should counter with Farrell and their 1st for Wolf to end any discussion

I never said he wasn't good...in fact I said I wouldn't want to trade him

top 5 2023 pick though? I doubt many would put that kinda value on him

Why would Anderson demand anything in return? He's not worth that contract even during a rare healthy stretch.

And all I said is that's what it "should" take to get him from Calgary, perception of his value from other teams means nothing, Treliving should know that no other team has a goalie prospect with his numbers.

I remember the buzz around here a few years ago when we had 3 blue chip goalie prospects in Parsons, Rittich and Gillies.

I hope the enthusiasm pays off better this time.

No doubt Wolf has done more in the AHL than those three ever did, I just hope the Flames don't screw it up. like they usually do with goalies.

I don’t think the Flames screwed up any of those guys
Rittich developed into an nhl goalie
Gillies had hip problems that derailed him
Parsons had other issues

I do not think Wolf would return a top 5 pick or anything, solely because highly touted goalies will always have more risk around them transitioning to NHL than non-goalies. But, I would not trade Wolf for anything less than a top 10 pick in this draft. No GM would give that to us.

Basically my point is that there is no point in trading Wolf because he has Vezina potential imo, and we won't get a return that reflects that. Trading him before he plays in NHL is just stupid as goalies never get a good return until they are established.

I can't see the Flames trading Wolf because of his age and the fact that he is found money in regards to where they drafted him. He represents the first opportunity in decades for a Flames drafted goaltender to actually make the NHL as a starter or even quality backup goaltender. I like Vladar but he's not quite shown that he can be an everyday starter in the NHL and may only have Rittich type upside which isn't bad but not a franchise goaltender.

I definitely think the most likely scenario is playing out the season as is, with Vladar getting traded in the offseason/pre-season with Wolf backing up Markstrom. Whether Wolf then takes the starter position is still a tall task, but that’s how I see the next 7-8 months shaping up. They could also have Wolf go one more season in the AHL.

I would be shocked to see Wolf traded outside of anything for a major haul, though. I don’t know if they have another goaltending (including Markstrom and Vladar) that has starter potential 5 years from now. Even if Markstrom turns it around he’s not going to be starter-quality forever and there is nobody else close.

Wolf is a small goaltender. That is working against him. I would say Wolf gets some late pre-season games to show his ability to play against NHLers then starts next season in the minors while the Flames work out the goaltending situation by trading one of Vlader or Markstrom. I would suspect Markstrom is the guy on the way out because the Flames need the cap space. The next couple of years will see a number of young players brought into the mix simply because we need the talent and the cap space and Wolf is one of those guys.

The thing with Markstrom is he has a NMC so he's going to have to want to go to trade him. As long as the team is competitive I don't see that happening. That's where moving Vladar is the more realistic scenario. I think they will give Wolf another year in the AHL though unless he comes into camp and steals the job from Vladar.

And people are taking Reggie's comment on Wolf way too seriously. No way is Treliving moving him.

Rittich wasn’t well regarded at all. He was a scrap heap find when we were scouting Daniel Pribyl. He did admirable work as a Flame but he was hardly blue chip.

Parsons and Gillies were infinitely better prospects but were constantly injured and never showed a ton in the AHL.
