I am surprised that McDavid didn't spin around and flop on the ice after.

Agreed. It's his default when encountering adversity. The old drop n' flail

Two black lines on the ice.

Just watched the skills on 30 highlight show. Missed last night. I think they should give every competition to McBaby and talk about him all the time. Oh wait..... I especially liked the open ended comment after the fastest skater - well, that time wouldn't have won this a couple years ago.....(insert when McBaby was competing..). I don't know why Chris Cuthbert didn't just say it. SN has even ruined him.

The bias/blinders for everything mcdavid is making the the league look bush on a weekend where it should be promoting itself to new fans.
Yes, I understand the desire to promote its great athletes but, the league has many great players.
If the league really wants to promote mcdavid so shamelessly, they should put pressure on to have him moved to New York, Chicago or LA

The most awkward part was that the goalies put the same level of effort in to stop Ovi Jr as they did Sarah Nurse.

A pretty ridiculous take. I don’t think they treated her any different than the men. She put on a great move.

I was watching the ESPN broadcast (well, watching is an overstatement) and it wasn't McDavid-focused outside of the accuracy. They did have Pat Maroon as an interviewer, who barely has the power of human speech. Not sure who thought that was a good idea.

I didn’t watch and only saw the Ovi Jr and Nurse highlights, so fair enough if the goalies weren’t trying all around, men included. But the Nurse one that I saw, Shesterkin definitely let her score, he didn’t fully extend his butterfly. My comment was indicating it was embarrassing on Shesterkins part to not put in the effort towards Nurse, not meaning anything untoward Nurse.

But if that was the same goaltending effort put forward towards the whole shootout, than I’m really glad I didn’t watch.

Yeah, fair enough. The goalies definitely put in the bare minimum effort throughout the entire thing. A lot of the rest of the players did the same.

To put it into context, Nurse probably had one of the nicest moves in the entire three hour event, and one of the few that looked like there was more than 30% effort involved. Outside of accuracy, hardest shot, and fastest skater, it was extremely light on effort.

Really? I thought the Rangers goalie masked it pretty well but he was moving in slow motion both backwards and kicking out his left leg with enough of a delay. Nurse's move was fine and having it tuck in close to the post, but if that was a true breakaway in an NHL game it would look like a weak effort from the goalie on replay.

Have to love how said Oiler fan has to tweet Stauffer to perpetuate the insaneess. In theory Kadri being closer means less of an angle. If 35 ft vs 36.5ft wrist shot makes that much of a difference to McDavid vs Kadri then Oilers fans are even more beyond help.

I have to say, I hope team Pacific gets demolished (Sorry Kadri) after listening to the Jason Gregor show yesterday where they are predicting a Pacific win because the three Oiler uber stars are going to put the whole team on their broad shoulders and walk away with the victory. I've asked it before, and I'll ask it again, is there even one media person in Edmonton that isn't a goddamn fanboy?
