The photo, I think, is fairly refective of the terrain . . . . .

I found it an unappealing place and fairly isolated but, as I said, we all have different tastes. Lots of people live in the desert and like it fine.

I think you might have misunderstood me, cow.
I wasnt taking a shot at all.
I dont know the terrain there at all and I guess you just gave me an eye opener. trust me, if mesquite, laughlin, reno were more affordable, I would certainly look in that direction.
well if nothing else, I get a nice bike run out of the deal.
and its always great to see a new place.

I could live in Vegas.. Also I saw a documentary about the rock lawns. It's a water bylaw that makes people use them I like them personally. Also your back yard can't have more than 50% grass landscaping due to the bylaw. Alot of people use field turf for grass.

You then use Desert Climate plants that look really nice but need little watering.

I haven't been to Vegas in 6 years. Wouldn't mind taking a trip there for a couple days.

Mom & Dad live there in the winter. They looked into switching to the natural desert yard thing. You wouldn't believe how much crap and paperwork you have to go through to do it, though.

I love Vegas as well. You don't even need to go near the strip, there is so much to do. A little warm for my liking in the summer, but you can always escape to Mt Charleston where it's a lot cooler.

Pai Gow poker! I played a lot of that last time I was there. You can play for a long time and not lose a lot of money (a lot of hands are pushes). Also, if you have the stomach for it... the roller coaster at NY,NY is a blast.

One thing I forgot to mention- the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton. Especially if you are a Star Trek fan.

I'll tell you what a buddy told me. Without spoiling it; at one point you get to ride through the transporter. Don't ask me how they do it, but holy fata! I was disorientated for a sec when I materialized on the other side. I swear I was really transported. And when my buddy tald me this, my reaction was "yeah, right. How drunk were you."

My one friend who tagged along wasn't really into Star Trek, and afterwards he was asking me what happened with that teleporter thingy, because he really thought he had been transported as well. There's a behind the scenes thing you can go on that shows how they do everything. I didn't do that because I didn't want to know how it was done.

You'll find coupons for Star Trek in the books that cabs have in the back seats; which brings it down to about $30. If you are a Trek fan that $30 should last you about 2 hours.
