Rush Canadian Tour Dates...What the Hell?!

So, in anxious anticipation of the latest offering from perhaps the best band on the planet, I was perusing the North American tour dates on their web page, and discovered something both curious and disturbing: the Western swing of the toour looks like this:
 JULY
 18th	Calgary, AB Pengrowth Saddledome
20th Seattle, WA White River Amphitheatre
21st	Portland, OR The Amphitheatre at Clark County
23rd	Los Angeles, CA Hollywood Bowl
25th Irvine, CA Verizon Wireless Amphitheater
 27th	Phoenix, AZ Cricket Pavilion
28th	Las Vegas, NV MGM Grand Garden Arena
30th	San Diego, CA Coors Amphitheatre

 AUGUST
1st San Francisco, CA Shoreline Amphitheatre
3rd Concord, CA Sleep Train Pavilion
4th Sacramento, CA Sleep Train Amphitheatre
6th Salt Lake City, UT USANA Amphitheatre
8th Denver, CO Red Rocks Amphitheatre
11th Dallas, TX Smirnoff Music Centre
12th San Antonio, TX Verizon Wireless Amphitheater
 14th Houston, TX

From Houston, the band goes through the mid-West, and ends their NA tour in London ON, Quebec City, Montrael, Toronto and Ottawa. Besides the lone date in Calgary, THERE ARE NO OTHER CANADIAN CITIES ON THE DOCKET WEST OF ONTARIO! No Edmonton, no Vancouver—which surprised the hell out of me, no Winnipeg!

So, living in the Lower Mainland as I do, this presents a prediciment for me; since now I will have tgo travel to Seattle to see a thoroughly Canadian musical institution. From this tour schedule, I can only conclude on of the following: That Vancouver is being skipped because either those geniuses in the Canucks organization honestly believe they will still be playing hockey in mid-July, and would not provide Rush with the venue; or, with all the outdoor venues on the schedule, the band just had no desire to play in the rain.
In either case, I am unimpressed.

I wonder if they've had bad turn outs before on the West Coast.

My guess is there will be a full-scale Candian tour coming up afterwards. Looks like the Calgary show is during Stampede. That makes 3 big shows at the dome that week. They probably couldn't say no to the $$$$.

I may be wrong, but I thought that Rush played at the Queen Elizabeth last time they were here rather than GM Place..

Nope...the Rush concert is after Stampede. The Stampede actually gets to program who comes into the Dome during the 10 days of cowboys wackyness, and I'm not sure if Rush would be their thing...OTOH they do have the Hip coming in...

As Frank the Tank said, they are playing here in London. Check their site again, may just be preliminary dates there.

Saw them when they came about 4 or 5 years ago. Good concert, amazing drum solo. I am not really much a fan, but if you are they are worth checking out. Only one odd thing to comment on. They had a couple of washing machines, the front end load kind with the glass door, with lights inside, spinning the whole show. They never explained why they were there. Maybe this is something a Rush fan can explain to me.

Geddy doesn't use amps on stage, so he doesn't want his side of the stage to look empty so they put the washer/dryers to occupy the space. They've also had a vending machine on stage to add to the laundr-o-mat feel

IIRC, they have been known to throw tour shirts out into the audience at the end of the show . . . downy fresh

I've always wondered why they did that. Know I know, thanks. I wonder what he'll do this tour I am betting on a popcorn cart.

Veeerrrrry tempted to take in the Seattle outdoor show. Sadly, it may be logistically impossible, as my parents happen to be visiting from out of town that week...AAAUUUURRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe my 64-year-old-gospel-quartet-loving father could be enticed into joining me; surely if he is assured that all the band members are over 50...

DAMN YOU, RUSH!! Why, why, why do you hate Vancouver?!?!
