Well he is locked in, I supposed he could ask for a trade but he seems a little different than Matthew to me.

He was happy to sign a massive deal that runs to the 2027/28 season, and seems to really like it in Ottawa. Don't see him asking for a trade or anything like that, so I'd say he's there for at least the eight year contract.

Huberdeau has got to be on pace for about the biggest drop off in points in NHL history unless he has a 30 game heater. 115 points to 57 if he keeps his current pace. Hopefully this is worst season until year 5 of his new deal.

Didn't Matthew say he wanted to sign long term with the Flames when he signed the three year deal? He wanted 8 years and Treliving wouldn't hence the bridge to him leaving.

How does want to sign long term and a few week's later he knows he needs a change. What a bunch of BS. He is a liar and set himself and his brand up for this situation to force a trade.

Go watch his end of the season presser..."very open to signing long term in Calgary"

he will never admit it but I think Gaudreau leaving was a big factor...him, Lindholm, Mangiapane on the top line?

If you take Huberdeau, Weegar, Kadri off the Flames and add Tkachuk (at 10.5) and Monahan...Kylington still gone, Markstom still having a bad season

IDK call me a homer but I bet that team is even worse

I remember posting that end of season presser in the Chucky thread in the offseason when people said he was as good as gone as evidence that he'd stay as long as the Flames didn't low ball him. I was wrong but atthe time, I believed him.

Tkachuk always left me wanting, from my viewings of his play in the playoffs. He was most notable to me for his antics.

He was neutralized by Zadorov against Colorado and Kilingberg of all people last year.

He is an elite talent at what he does, but when I watched him play, he just didn't seem like the guy we should be spending 9 million plus on.

Just my opinion of course.

Isn't he getting much more favorable zone starts in Florida?

Interesting point is the rumor that he wanted to be the Captain. That could have been a deciding factor him. Would he have stayed if given captaincy?

I doubt it.

He set himself up with the bridge deal to make an exit

Oh well. We will always have the hat flip

Agree with the responses. There’s no “I told you so” and no sense in drumming up who said what or just how good Tkachuk is now. He forced his way out because he didn’t want to be here, so we all have equal egg on our face as Flames fans.

I don’t know why people want to celebrate/lament how well he’s doing. It sucks. It could have been here, but he bailed on the team and lied to fans. Why are we still pumping this guy’s tires?

I personally don't understand either extreme; pumping him up or tearing him down.

Move on.

I certainly understand the interest. You trade a superstar and there will be curiosity in seeing how he does. If you have to go out of your way to explain away his production then maybe you have some weird motivation.

I enjoyed watching Darryl hoist the Cup.
Didn't much care for Gilmour's great run with the Leafs.
Happy that Mullen won some cups in Pittsburgh.
Kind of cool to see Vernon have a bit of a renaissance.
Feel really bad that Neal couldn't keep an NHL job.

I hope he wins a Cup in Florida. I only cheer for 2 teams anyways. Calgary and Merica.

I hope the 2022 playoffs will be his last appearance in the NHL playoffs.

He screwed us just like Johnny the only difference was we had his rights to trade to get something back.

At this point, if someone said you can have him put up 57 (no more, no less) every season that he's here, I'd take it.
