I said this exact same thing when it happened.
Nobody voted for her. She has no mandate.
The concept that a party can be elected into Government and then just swap leaders halfway through and the only way any Albertan gets any say in it is to pay that party a fee for a vote is absolutely insane and, I dont use this term lightly, but 'Undemocratic.'
Nobody voted for this clown.
If the leader of the Governing party is, for whatever reason, deemed to have lost the Confidence of his party.....then call an Election with a new leader.
This BS is absolute madness. What stops any party from winning a mandate and then just parachuting in some random clown to take over after the deed is done?
Hell, Notley should plant that as part of her platform, she'd get a lot of credit from me for it.
I loathed Kenney but God as my Witness I never thought they'd manage to find someone worse. I didnt think it could be done....and yet here we are.

The polling is all over the map, so I don't even know which one to trust anymore. Some polls are showing the Cons with a large lead and its growing, some show it close.

yeah tough to trust the polls at this point.
Both Libs and Cons have leaders who the other side would describe as the worst choice (some even in their own parties). Trudeau and Pollievre are just pretty much hated by a vast majority of voters.

Neck and neck in federal polls, until you consider that the 19% NDP is almost assuredly going to vote strategically, or any seats that do win will just create a deal with the libs post election. There is no path to victory for the CCP in those polling numbers.

And national polls usually hurt the CCP because they have more large margin wins. While the libs dominate tight margin wins.

Why do polls bother reporting national support for the BQ? Or put another way why report their support at a national level? Makes no sense whatsoever. Have two sets of numbers - one for Quebec, the other for ROC.

As a taxpayer this warms my heart to know that this is the car’s position on $15 billion.
Meanwhile, I get monthly letters from them reminding me that I owe the $400
I get that this money is likely spread over lots of people, but surely there is something they can do

A Liberal MP and former sport minister is again calling for a public inquiry into abuse in sport — and is accusing her own government of not doing enough to tackle the problem.
Kirsty Duncan said the government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau failed to build momentum behind her efforts to prevent harassment, abuse and discrimination in sport in the years after she left cabinet — despite knowing a lot about the problem well before Hockey Canada's handling of sexual assault allegations exploded in the news last year.
Duncan said she even faced "pushback" from people within her own government when she made tackling abuse a top priority of her time as sport minister.
|
Quote:
On Thursday, Duncan announced she's taking medical leave effective immediately on the advice of doctors to deal with a physical health challenge.
Duncan was not re-appointed to cabinet by Trudeau after the 2019 election. She was instead appointed deputy House leader for the government.
|
Quote:
n the 2019 federal budget, the government committed $30 million over five years "to enable Canadian sports organizations to promote accessible, ethical, equitable and safe sports."But Duncan says there was a climate of resistance to policies she was introducing, both within and outside the government.
"I don't think people understood the problem. There wasn't a lot of interest in Parliament. I asked what we were doing and I was told that we had to stop this safe sport stuff and get back to what sport was really about," she said, referring to celebrating sporting achievements.
"My answer was, 'So not protecting children?'"

I would assume it's because votes for the BQ affect the Federal numbers - sure no one else can vote for them outside Quebec, but that means you can't discount those numbers, either, because they do receive votes.

The Bloc has tremendous effect on a Federal election, so the numbers are important.
I think there should be a box on the ballot in every federal election for those outside of Quebec to simply vote for the Bloc as a protest vote.

They'd need to have a Rep in your riding.

Its Quebec, a you know distinct society which should allow them to have a distinct thing, like letting me protest against the horrible leadership of all the other parties by voting for the Bloc as a protest vote.

I always thought a western block would be a good idea, then we would have actual leverage federally.
Not a CPC who knows they don't need to do anything for Alberta because it's an auto win and the Libs who know they don't need to do anything for Alberta because it's an auto lose.

You know what would actually make Alberta matter? Proportional representation. The Libs gaining a vote in AB would be worth as much as gaining one in suburban Toronto, and the CPC losing one in AB would be worth as much as losing one in suburban Toronto.

Also a fair point, I was just being selfish and hoping we could also get a party that wasn't awful haha.
