Crickets regarding the CSA and their negotiations with the players. Or Herdman’s contract.

With the CPL/OneSoccer association with the CSA, not going to hear anything out of that pundit lot like KJ, so really it’s up to Westhead to continue to push this to the front…and without a doubt, as our Mango has said in past, the CSA pushes back and tries to bully media behind the scenes, so Westhead has an uphill battle though I am sure he’s used to thst given the stories he covers and uncovers.

Also at the Nike store last weekend, 50% off all jerseys and CSA apparel, a clear sign Nike is out as kit sponsor. SportChek is overflowing with CSA product too, 2 months too late. Nothing Davies related though, that would cost the CSA royalty money.

Rumor is a pending loan of Cyle Larin to La Liga club Real Valladolid from Club Brugge, with the intention of a permanent transfer.

TSN: Larin to sign with Valladolid on loan from Brugge

Nice. Hopefiily Larin will strive under the leadership of Ronaldo (the real one, not the fraud in Saudi).

Larin was a machine in qualifying, as were most of the forwards. Great move for him, which hopefully translates to even more quality and experience for the NT.

I loved Herdman in qualifying, but I thought he lost his way at the WC. I think the lack of experience (and institutional experience) was on display. Hopefully the CSA, Herdman and staff and all the players walk away from Qatar with valuable lessons and go in 2026 ready to make noise.

Larin will be a perfect combination of experience and youth for 2026 as a 30 year old.

Cyle Larin looked like he was toast for a while on his way out of Orlando. Good on him for turning it around in a big way.

Larin to Valladolid is official. Fresh start for Larin and a move up to a top 5 league, and Valladolid are desperate for strikers.

2024 Copa America will be played in the US. Huge opportunity for Canada to get in some games against better quality opponents should they qualify, which they should.

So looks like a combined Copa America is becoming a thing, like I've been saying for years.

No one gives a darn about the Gold Cup

It might be another one off like 2016. We'll see if it becomes a permanent every 4 years thing.
And what happens if the US doesn't qualify for its own tournament?

Excellent news about Copa America. Having to both go through the (should be relatively easy, but still) qualifying process and then tournament soccer is good for setting some team structure, pressure in general, nevermind the player development of actually playing the games at a better than Concacaf level and giving the chance of more players some exposure.

Beats twiddling thumbs for the players without WC qualifying games this cycle, waiting for the CSA to line up substandard opponents over the next 3 years.

And Larin scores a 90th minute winner for Valladolid on his debut. Valladolid's first goal in La Liga since Nov 5

Not sure why Herdman would turn down a guaranteed participation in a home World Cup, and likely participation in a Copa America for New Zealand, outside of the chance to do it all over again with a new program. Seems like a negotiating ploy more than anything.

New Zealand pretty much has an automatic spot for 2026 as well.
