Now I want Markstrom to step away from the game for a while and relax. He's on pace for 3127 minutes this season. That's about 570 less than last season, or 9.5 games. So, he shouldn't be that tired physically. He just needs to get mentally right. The Flames are going to need him to be at peak form down the stretch and in the playoffs.

Yeah, I wouldn't make a move this season... Think about how many times a goalie was the backup in game one of the playoffs, but ends up getting in and taking the team on a run.

On the other hand, if they could move out Markstrom's cap hit and roll with Vladar and Wolf at a combined $3 million cap hit next season, it would really help the cap situation next year.

I'm liking the configuration of the top 9. Not sure who plays fourth line next game. Lucic was physical and much better than he's been of late, Lewis was solid as always. Ruzicka was OK, but got sat at the end. So maybe Ritchie comes in?

We are 4 points back from 1st in the division.
9 points back from 1st in the conference.
And we have a freaking goalie with a 13 game point streak.

Also if we had an AHL caliber type powerplay we would be top 3 in the West.
Losing 5-1 to Chicago is still unacceptable

Please gods let Edmonton do worse tomorrow

It's obviously true...one guy is on a 77 point pace and the other is on a 111 point pace. If Markstrom was even average this season the Flames would be in a much better spot. Who expected him to be the 50th best goalie in the league or whatever. I'm not talking about last night Markstrom was blowing games the Flames dominated earlier in the season

I agree, Best thing would to have Vladar play most of the games from here to the end of the season. Marky could use some time watching games from the bench.

Lose to worst team in league. Beat best team in division.

Makes sense.

One caution...we all thought Rittich was next in line...until he became the starter and the wheels fell off

With the Kings win and Kraken’s loss tonight, the Kings took the top spot in the division

I'm saying Vladar as the starter and Marky as the backup.

I know, some are saying Vlad/Wolf though

Vladar has played 3 of the last 4 including the one game against a team competing with the Flames so for now anyway he is

Pelletier having such a strong showing so far and working his way up has balanced out the lineup a ton. Lucic makes the 4th line much more effective and had a strong game. Nothing to show for it yet, but the Kadri line is looking more dangerous. The "top" line... wow. That's more like it!
