My buddy said there was an industry screening of The Last of Us last week at the Jube, and Danielle Smith was scheduled to do a speech before the screening. Apparently she got mercilessly booed by all 2,500 people in there, and barely looked up from her notes on the podium to address the audience.

This makes me so happy, wish I was there.

This scenario with Smith and the anti vax/anti lockdown/mandate crowd is getting more and more strange. No doubt about it that she recruited and went after their vote hard. Right or wrong, her message resonated with a lot of people from that side. One elected as leader and now as Premier, she's really turned her back on them. Almost everything that was discussed and promised has been dropped in essence. She may be on video describing she did this and that and will look after the issue but if it turns out there is little evidence she even tried, didn't even have someone write a single email (right or wrong) than it's even more perplexing.

Regardless, like a lot of people say, AB Politics is always interesting.
That makes a ton of sense.

This makes a ton of sense.

Exactly why it's plausible.

This shouldn't surprise you at all, she's a proven, time-tested political opportunist that will happily bend to the ebbs and flows to get her in a more advantageous position. Her crossing the floor in 2014 was for all intents and purposes to prolong and grow her political career, hardly to represent her people (whom she turned her back on as an ardent Wildrose member).

Then in 2022/2023 she does the same to the same base, this time as Premier who walks back on her promises.

Then in the middle of her political opportunism, she spouts whatever belligerent and untruthful tripe comes to her peanut brain. And she does it on radio and any microphone that will have her. Remember when hydroxycholoroquine was being opined as an alternative? She shouted the loudest at Albertans because she wanted her hot air to be the most exhaustive as an authority.

The downward spiral of right-wing conservatism has only emboldened her and people around her. And she used a backdoor entry to gain access to Alberta's most powerful position.

She's playing a game, and none of you are going to win with her. She has a power complex she can't itch. It's all about - and always has been - about Danielle.

I reject the entire premise of your question. She's not lying; just using words imprecisely.

I got a quick telephone poll for the election last night.

are you going to vote? Y
who are you voting for? NDP
who did you vote for last time? AP
who should be premier? RN
favorable / unfavorable to Smith? U

Politics is a bit of a herd sport, giving negative responses towards the UCP on polls probably contributes more than you'd think to dislodging them.

I have to be honest, I take the exact opposite view. I like to tell them I’m 100% voting for them when I have no intention of doing so. I feel like it encourages them to keep doing what they’re doing, and gives them a false sense of security.

It makes me wonder if they are setting up a scenario where Smith is designated as 'the problem' and she is removed right before the election for a more moderate candidate in order to gain back the 'I hate the NDP' crowd.

The reason that I don't think that she has the reins of the party the way that is being suggested is that there was no real shift in power within the caucus. The same horrible representation still holds the portfolios of the government. No backbenchers were brought forward and Kenney's goons turfed. All of Smiths antics are very hand waving, 'look at me' behaviors.

It feels like a hoodwink.

I'm not sure, there is a big group of people who like to vote fore a winner. in 2015 when the NDP won nobody though it was them before the election, but when it looked like they had enough momentum in the polls the whole thing swung fast towards them. I think if even for a moment it looked like the Libs or the AP in those polls the same people would have swung there.

Lol!

"I dunno what happened Mrs. Smith....the polling numbers looked way better, I swear!!"

And then the Election will be stolen and they'll storm Chicken on the Way...

I don't think it was about voting for a 'winner'...it was about wanting anybody but the PC dynasty and finally having a credible challenger

Looks like Elise Von Scheel(reported on the emails) may have been harassed into locking her Twitter down. Such great people on Danielle's side! She's a reporter and now we can't even see what she has to say anymore. Thanks ####faces.

They need to know if they should kick us out of confederation.
