Uhh...I dont entirely disagree but I'd wager that the reality would lie somewhere in the middle.
If you flooded Canada with guns we would have some problems, I'd agree with that.
However we also dont have 200+ years of the same sort of baked in 'Gun Culture' flowing through our veins.
Thats a societal implication that we do not share, so I'd disagree that we would experience the exact same problems.
Up until 1969 Canada had the same gun laws and both countries had relatively the same gun problems per capita. fact is people do stupid things with access to guns, most US gun deaths are because they snap and kill someone or themselves in a fit of rage not planned shootings or self defense.
Prior to 1969 guns in both the US and Canada would have been bolt action rifles and double barreled shotguns for hunting, in the US the rise of the semi auto AR15 anti government prepper gun culture is a new thing, to a large degree we missed it

AR-15's get all the news but handguns are the biggest problem in the US not AR-15's and they were a thing in Canada prior to 1969's restriction laws.

Rumors on twitter that the suspect was inside the van and found dead, but nothing confirmed yet. From CNN's site:
"A 72-year-old gunman killed himself when approached by police on Sunday.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna identified the suspect as Huu Can Tran. The sheriff said that Tran turned a handgun on himself on Sunday as police approached a white van he was driving in Torrance, about 20 miles (34 km) from the site of the shooting at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park. Officers heard a single gunshot from the van as they approached, then fell back and called for a SWAT team.
The gunman tried to carry out another shooting at a separate club just minutes after the first one on Saturday night, but authorities said two bystanders wrestled the man's weapon away from him before any shots could be fired. He fled that scene." https://www.reuters.com/world/us/pol...es-2023-01-22/
Isn't about every 5th or 6th shooting we have a debate about what fully auto, semi-auto and bolt action guns are, then a Canadian gun enthusiast enters the chat and begins to condescendingly teach us about guns and gun culture?
Terrible.... Another one... They're always bad but for our community, especially hard as this time of year when everything is about hopefulness for the rest of the year
at least 7 dead from another mass shooting tonight in California...
"The suspected shooter, identified by authorities as Chunli Zhao, 67, was arrested within hours of the first shooting, with video captured by NBC Bay Area showing him surrendering to authorities at a sheriff's substation.
This shooting took place in Halfmoon Bay. What is it with Senior Citizens getting into this violence?
These two most recent shootings seem quite bizarre and definitely go against the grain of typical profiles. Asian on Asian violence conducted by senior citizens.
From another Asian senior 60+. What a backwards 3rd world country.

I was pretty surprised by this too - both gunmen do not fit the profile for typical mass shooters....hoping these are just aberrations and not an expansion of the profile.
Just goes to show you that anger touches anyone, young or old, regardless of race...and having access to guns opens the door to these tragedies to happen, even when California has the toughest gun laws in the nation
