It seems "Meredith said no" is gaining popularity over social media, which is funny but uncalled for. Whatever it is I hope Gaudreau gets some cheers tonight, but at the end of the night Lindholm has more points on the season, and the Flames get 2 more points in the standings.

I find it interesting a lot in the "cheer" camp on the poll are people who regularly trash Flames players and basically everything the franchise does...including Gaudreau when he was here

Not me. I'm probably too much of a Flames homer TBQH, and I'm ok with that, since sports is supposed to be my happy place, and if I ever get to the point where I'm just negative about it all the time, that's probably a good time step away.

I've always been a Johnny fan from day one. I remember watching him in Penticton and just dazzled by some of the moves he was doing on the ice. I'll always cheer for Johnny, even if he's on another team (other than Oilers or Canucks of course).

not everyone obviously...I just see a few names I know ripped on him big time for basically everything well he played on the Flames and do the same with the current roster

I won't boo Gaudreau but we should boo Treliving for letting a player like that walk and get absolutely nothing in return. Absolute incompetence. He should of at least had a hard date set and if he was not signed by that date, you trade him. Tre gets let off on this situation by some saying he did everything he could of. There is always different choices we could make. Ultimately the player walked for nothing and that is on Treliving.

So Johnny gets dealt as a 70pt forward a year before free agency. Tells the media he really wanted to stay in Calgary and goes on to have the same season as last year you don’t think the hate on Treliving will be worse.

Many wanted Johnny traded before the NTC kicked in but he was all about signing the summer before. The team either overpaid him at the time, or take the risk and make him earn it in his contract year.

I got a great hockey memory seeing him score a game 7 OT winner and watched the most enjoyable flames regular season I can remember so while I hated losing him for nothing and think he deserves to boo birds tonight I am not missing the average return he would have got. Zero doubt in my mind Treliving shopped him but after years of being pushed around in the playoffs and a couple of down years offensively his value was diminished
