It never ceases to make me laugh when people with no knowledge of my career goals call me the next Francis. If I'm still writing about hockey in five years, I'll have made a mistake.

There's something to be said for making the most of your early 20s, but doing this forever would kill me. I barely "report" on anything anyway.

I think its time for everybody to move on

Flames absolutely dominating the Lightning and they had no excuses of playing the night before or any other crap. Keep playing like that and coast into the playoffs

Yeah I pretty much expected nothing out of him when he was called up. He looks way way better so far. Big, speedy, energy........perfect 4th liner for now, and could move up possibly if he keeps improving. He's like found money imo.

Yeah, and imo, he's the least of our "found money" if we just keep bringing guys up and giving them two week stints to show what they got. I think Zary could be the best of all of them, but I don't see him getting the call because we'll have a "ceiling" for pesky call ups playing NHL minutes in a season.

That is disappointing to hear. You have a great start in this business and a wonderful opportunity. Seize it!

I didn't expect much out of Ruzicka and he's been good.
I expected zero out of Duehr and he's been great, so far.

Apparently I don't follow our prospects closely enough, or I'm just pessimistic about the franchise, because so far the young guys have delivered. Although I've always loved Pelletier's game and he proved me right (albeit in one game) so far. He's going to be a beauty.

I was typing up a response to derail the thread back to talking about the presser... but was then derailed myself by #suddenlycommunity, #unexpectedcommunity.

I wonder what happened in those other pressers...

So, the Sutter quote has really blown up. It looks really bad when written out but actually watching the video? I don’t think it’s that bad.

I dunno, maybe I’m off base here but I think if you’re genuinely outraged by that you might need to take a few deep breaths. On film it’s not nearly as bad as it reads on paper.

Two ways to look at it, if Pelletier plays Monday it's just Sutter trying to bring the kid along his way, if he doesn't play Monday it's a concern.

Also, Walker Duehr is playing above my expectations. I am a little skeptical he keeps it up but he's showing a lot of confidence in the offensive zone. His speed is a huge asset.
This is a player who has gone under the radar so far despite also being a "rookie" (an older one for sure, but still...).

We talk about youth injection but we've had several already this year. Ruzicka is now a regular, Zohorna got a few games, now we get to see Duehr in an extended stretch and he looks quite good. Great speed and has a good shot off the wing. Pelletier may or may not stick for the rest of the year, but he also has good potential to be an NHLer sooner rather than later.

All in all, I think we're doing okay in bringing some younger players along. Let's also not forget that Dube is having his best season ever and looks like a permanent fixture in the top 6.

Remember, we haven't really had a lot of top picks in recent years, so this is as good as it gets when you don't have the draft capital.

I saw the original portrait during my travels through Scotland. It's in Castle Dunvegan on the northern part of the Isle of Skye. It's so odd to me that this portrait of Dr. Samuel Johnson, out in what is virtually the middle of nowhere became a meme. I snapped a photo when I first saw it, but this guy did a better job of showing it in context.

Cool story bro.

After the game Huberdeau was the first player to skate up to Pelletier and he gave him a big hug and said something
