Sure. Doesn't change that they were going to ask today, too.

695 NHL games. Which seems to go against the prevailing sentiment earlier in this thread that people who have actually played team sports would completely understand what Darryl was trying to say.

Even the earlier question that went viral when Salim asked about Phillips was not antagonistic in any way.

Body of work. No doubt Flames employees have their finger on the pulse of local medias articles and posts. Salim is antagonistic overall, or at least he goes for controversy clicks.
The younger generation is conditioned to go for that in media as they are driven to "clicks". Social media sucks and has made clicks the barometer for success.

Flames reporters aren't enough, retired NHLers aren't enough.
We very specifically need I guess a Flames alumnus to comment in?

There was zero need to be rude and disrespectful.

The media could focus on writing their own story about his debut performance, Sutter availability or not. Did they watch? They shouldn’t have to have Sutter write the story for them but it appears they do. Hopefully they got off Twitter in time to meet their posting deadline.

He almost scored the first goal or the game and made a good defensive play.
The honest answer is he's not one of my pets on thr 4th line so I played him 6 minutes instead of the usual 12 I give them when it's Lucic and Rithcie so he didn't get a chance to do much.
The best answer was he was ok tonight but he's a young player who has a bright future but a lot more work to put in.
Not who is he?

I assume this is the sheet he picked up: https://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlrepor...3/ES020733.HTM
Player stats for the game arranged by number. It's not easy to find a specific player, especially if you don't have their number memorized.

And i think most people here trashed Derek Wills for that absolutely ridiculous question following up on what was a good conversatiom about Pelletier.

I dont know.
Eric Francis is antagonistic.
I just dont see that at all with Salim. Ive seen him ask the questions that fans on twitter are asking him to ask.
Which sometimes may be questions that other media members have shied away from, but i dont see that as antagonistic personally.

Is it antagonistic to ask non-softball questions in a season where a veteran-laden team with exorbitant long-term financial commitments has lost more games than it's won?

Putting the Sutter stuff aside (I agree with getback, Sutter's the same as 15 years ago, local fans love his media stuff when the team is winning and hate it when they're losing), the eye test sure looks so good on one front with Pelletier -
He is going to be the perfect line mate for Huberdeau. I know that. I went back and watched so much footage of Huberdwau last year to see what was working and why a 115 point player was suddenly looking to produce half that.
Pelletier checks every box. He's fast, he's intelligent and gets open, while aptly reading what his line mates are doing, and is a left shot. That is the exact type of player that Huberdeau needs to put up points. And he looked more than ready to read and get open at the NHL level in his first game.

Darryl’s ego is certainly a bit on the heavy side these days. If he wants to be this curt with the media, he should probably do it better than this.
The arrogant schtick is fun when the team is winning and the coach looks like a genius, but when he’s coached a 100 point player into being a .5ppg, and an old roster “built for him” into being a bubble/non-playoff team it just comes off as tone deaf.
Yeah yeah, he is what he is and he’s not going to change, but as far as I’m concerned I’m not giving Sutter any more credit for past successes than I do Milan Lucic. Just because he won a decade ago, doesn’t mean he can/knows how to win now - so I’m not going to defend this level of ######baggery.
He said a stupid thing to the media, and should be criticized for it - just like he should be criticized for his bafflingly stupid lineup decisions this season.
I also think it’s stupid of people to discard critical comments/articles/interviews from media members as “TMZ style reporting” as if there isn’t plenty to be critical of this season/this organization in general. The media in Calgary is largely non-critical of the organization, and it’s an organization that isn’t actually any good at putting together a winning team. Have at ‘er.

Hilarious that this, not the poop comment, is going to get Darryl lynch mobbed on Twitter and in the papers
I think Laraque and Lapierre are missing the context of this
6 minutes of hockey, fine, but pedestrian. Nothing to write home about, but that's expected for a player with 0 nhl games
Reading off the statsheet is cheeky no doubt but also Sutter couldn't tell the people anything more than they saw with their own eyes, hence the sheet
Long ways to go, which is true. It's a toe in the pool
Unfortunately no one will know that 3 days ago sutter went on at length about how he likes the kid's game

Have people been rallying that specific criticism? I don't recall. If so that would be silly.
Kind of like quoting Maxim Lapierre or Georges Laraque as some kind of authority or influence.
How many games did Raffi Torres play in the NHL? We need to hear from the real experts!

All I can say is I certainly hope the Flames young players are made of sterner stuff than some of the precious snowflakes in this thread.
Seriously. It's the NHL for goodness sakes. The handwringing around here you'd think we were talking about some Atom team.

Do you even watch the games? How much of the game was special teams? 6 minutes seems about right for a kid playing his first game in the NHL against the back to back cup champs in a penalty filled game. Did you expect him to have time on the first powerplay unit? Because Ritchie sure wouldn't be getting it even as a "pet"

LOL. No. He was asked how he did. And sure, he could have mentioned his one chance on his first shift. Maybe that didn’t stand out to him as much as fans who were focusing on Pelletier. Sutter doesn’t dwell on individual plays. We know that much.
