Give me konecny or give me death
(Or meier/duclair)
But yeah, if we're fishing it's in the B or C tier

Konecny is like 175 pounds max soaking wet. Will have to add a little size before we can take a run at him.

I bet he’s thinking of the Panthers Hornqvist

Pagnota the same guy who bought a Kadri islanders jersey?
The same guy who had Huberdeau being flipped 10 minutes after the trade?
I miss Bob McKenzie.

Well Nyquist is supposedly a good leader. I like him but yeah, he's pretty washed up and wouldn't move the needle much. Max third round pick with salary retained 50%.

Even then, think of the opportunity cost. Why waste the rest of our cap on that. With our luck, a better player will become available right after and we wouldn't have the cap space to take advantage.

Pagnotta has said a lot about the Flames over the years and I believe it has all been a bunch of junk.

He plays bigger than at least half the players on our roster right now.

I don't care what anybody says, most teams going to the playoffs want to get bigger and/or grittier- unless they are desperate for scoring. Nyqvist doesn't really provide any of these 3 things, and I don't think Darryl would want him. When we picked up Jarnkrok, he at least provided a bit of grit and some good defense. A guy like Konecny is smaller, but plays a lot bigger than his size, and plays with bite-same could be said about Max Domi.

If I'm management I'm not trading any 1st round picks or any top prospects this year. Even if they do acquire a good forward that can fit in with our top 6, with Markstrom as our starter and the lack of speed upfront I'm not convinced they can challenge for a cup. Even with the west seemingly open, not convinced we are built to contend.

Imo the canucks are going totally mad right now at a management/ ownership level. Offer them a potential Bedard chip + for petterssen and see what happens imo. It's better if they're not shopping him too so there's no build up. Make it a great offer and maybe they pounce like Darryl did when trading Phaneuf (woof).
Unprotected 23 1st+ coronato+ Phillips (played w in victoria)

If it was like the Phaneuf trade we would be sending a bunch of middling 20 something assets to Vancouver rather than potentially two young studs.
But the Flames have traded or released their 2014 1st, 2015 1st, 2016 1st, 2017 1st, 2018 1st and 2022 1st. So trading their 2021 1st and their 2023 1st could make sense.

In counterpoint to your point about the flames not having their firsts from that period, I point to the opposite example: the edmonton oilers have made all of their 1st round picks since 2015. Its done them a lot of good.

Draisaitl and McDavid worked out. But they certainly missed some too. A trade like the one you proposed probably gets the Flames in the playoffs at least.
