How Rune! Holger your horses, the Dane is my pick to beat Rublev and face Djokovic in the quarters......

Hugh Clarke's blog has pointed out several times that Rune's swing mechanics are the closest to the Big 3 out of all the young contenders, and thus he might have the highest ceiling. as much as his immaturity was annoying last year, I'd like to see all that analysis come to fruition this year in some form. it might end up helping guys like Felix who struggle with shot tolerance from one set to another and aren't sure why, so it's just chalked up to mental fortitude.

I agree that he does look to have a pretty high ceiling. It's too bad he's a dick and a brat. Maybe a villain is good for tennis? I don't know.

Maybe it will just take some time to adjust that attitude - Feel free to correct me if wrong, but a lot of people didn't take too kindly to Andy Murray's demeanor in his younger days (kind of a brat and always whining) and now he's one of the most beloved guys on tour. I think marriage and family likely had a lot to do with that change, though.

for all the young dumb brattiness he's displayed (I do love the JAAA thing though) at least Rune seems to care about the sport and has big ambitions. I'll take that any day over Nick "I could dominate the tour if only I tried hard, but I won't do that and be held accountable when it doesn't actually happen" Kyrgios

Without a doubt most people mature with age. Like I said before it's may not necessarily be the worst for the sport to have another McEnroe type player.

Speaking of guys maturing with age, I like the changes Shapo has made to his game along with his attitude. Lost a close one to Hubi yesterday, but I think Peter Polansky has been a very good influence on Denis.

I'm not sure why this tweet exists. Of those 8 players there are 3 (Sinner, Tsitsipas and Felix) who wouldn't be a surprise at all to make a GS final, and 3 more (Khachanov, Korda and Hurkacz) who are a bit of a surprise but not THAT big a surprise given that anyone who knows anything about tennis knows those three dudes tend to get on runs where they play top-10, even top 5 quality tennis. Especially Hubie, we've seen him look borderline unbeatable at times on grass.

Rublev vs. Evans starting shortly - Rublev should win, but Evans can be very frustrating and has one of the best slice backhands on tour.

Still on serve but I don't think the Englishman can keep up with the man representing the white flag.

RBA vs Murray should be decent tonight... though I fear Murray will struggle to move around the court.

Dimitrov will never have a better chance to beat Djoker especially if Novak has a bad hammy.

Edit: Grigor did beat Novak on the clay of Madrid back in 2013, but the H2H is 9-1 in favour of the Serb.

Anyone up. I got up to pee and caught the end of the 2nd set. Murray is madness!

I tried to stay up, but too many late nights have caught up with me. Sad to see Andy out.
