Darryl put himself above the team this year. He’s wrong, and he needs to adjust, but can’t, because he has an ego. That’s putting yourself above the team.

Don't think he's really been overly positive about any of our players or prospects, but isn't really doing anything to change his own strategy either to try to improve things.

Really feels like his attitude this year is we are doing things my way, win or lose, and I'm not making adjustments.

Of course that could be all just his media persona...but based on the body language of the players and how they seem to lack confidence I doubt it. No doubt these guys lack confidence when the coach is saying how unskilled and bad you are all the time.
Even your extremely more rational comment on the guy is relying on how he looks in interviews and the body language of players ...

I don't think anyone is going to make the case that he's a players coach, but he has never been one.

He isn't right 100% of the time for sure.

But the personal reaction from the fan base these days seems way over the top.

Constant losing? They wont a division last year and a playoff round ... the guy won the Adams.

They're on pace for a mid 90s point season this year.

Yeah .... way over the top

Hartley was fired, for good reason, a year after he won the Adams and won a round.

Darryl has been a huge problem with this Flames team this year. Stubborn and not getting results.

Dube needs to be off that top line, the problem is who do you replace him with? I don't care about his advanced stats or that he looks almost good every game, he doesn't generate anything in the points column.

This team has two holes in the top 6.

Well Sutter's non-results are a fair bit different than Hartley's. and I prefer Sutter's honest meanness to Hartley's dishonest meanness.

Darryl Sutter has always had a shelf life.

If that's come up then fine. I expect it's coming in the next two years tops.

But the rest I just don't see. Hockey market over reaction. More play for Phillips wouldn't change a lot, hoping for Pelletier to help out, but the impact of his play won't move the needle. They need their best four or five players to get back to being their best four or five players. None of these stubborn decisions will mean anything if they don't.

120th out of 425 forwards in the league that have played 150 minutes in points/60.

Sutter also has a heck of a lot more to work with. And I'm not convinced Darryl is honest a lot of the time.

Nevertheless, I'll grant you that Sutter has been better than Hartley was. But I don't think the bar is particularly high. I think his shtick is wearing thin everywhere.

Putting your two best forwards with Lucic for a month ... it's asinine, honestly. The low-ceiling play style. The unwillingness to let guys be creative or cheat for offence whatsoever when you're smarting for goals. They're playing Rick Tocchet hockey and it's horrible to watch.

I think one thing that could transform the play of this team would be Kylington coming back. He has what the team is lacking... speed and offensive flair from the back, ability to enter the offensive zone and still come back to cover, general offensive awareness.

I know that it's his call, but my enjoyment of this season might hang on his decision to come back.

They won a playoff round, really? LOL

Well I guess as flames fans we have low standards.

I am talking about winning where it matters, playoffs. 0 WCF in 35 years ( and counting, that for sure) So yeah you cant say over the top, reasonable reactions based on the lack of success where it matters.

What did the division title and home ice get us? An embarrassing near sweep to our hated rivals despite being the favorites and having home ice.

What did the conference title get us in 2019? A first round near sweep

Won a playoff round for only the second time in Tres 9yr tenure and then lost 4 straight to the greasers after winning the first game.People should be upset. It shows people care and showing emotion and passion is a positive. As long as we don't cross the proverbial line. Mid 90s won't make the playoffs and not making the playoffs for this team will be a disaster. Even though we know there would be hiccups that is not good enough.

Well then be more specific.

When a guy whines about constant losing with no context coming off a division winning season ... not all that obvious.

I'm not the look back 35 years guy.

Fill your boots though!

I find the season frustrating too. You won't find me saying a whole bunch of positive things.

I just don't clinch my fists and whine like some do.

Gets tiring.

Ruzicka wasn't given "every opportunity". Sutter didn't try him higher in the lineup since the reunion of Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman, which I agree is better with Mangiapane on it.

It seems like there's just a double standard because he is a prospect. Either that or him and Zohorna were out partying before the game against CHI where Sutter said: Shortly after Zohorna has been sent down, and now Ruzicka sits. That said, that's purely speculation on my part.

In my eyes, Ruzicka has been creating offense and is one of the positives of this entire season. Moreover, after he was demoted to the 4th line, the 4th line started to look like less of a liability, and even provided more energy. Not to mention that the 4th line with Lewis as the center didn't look great this year. I would take out Lucic, Dube, or Duehr out of the lineup before Ruzicka.
That happened simultaneously with Lucic's removal from the line. I don't think it's a coincidence. Lucic is really hanging on to his NHL career by his fingernails at this point.
