He's a tough one to figure out. He does go silent at times but I can't say I notice him turning over pucks or floating. Maybe it's effort or maybe he's trying too hard to play within the structure of what the coach wants and in the process is stunting his game. Either way I'm happy to see that Pelletier may finally get his opportunity to play.

Rather telling in my view.
Huh?

Bit of a Dube hate on there I see.

He's 120th in the league in points/60 five on five.

120/32 teams is a high end 2nd line player.

Odd.

He does better in the top 9 than on the 4th line. It's kind of a waste to even put him there.

I don't mind him coming out to give Pelletier some ice-time though. Hopefully Sutter sees something he likes and he can move up.

I don't think they like Lewis as a full time centre so that's why they had him there. Best case is Pelletier plays his way into the top 6 and Ruzicka comes back as 4th line centre with a bee in his bonnet for the rest of the season after being scratched

He got demoted to the fourth line permanently when he had the highest points per game on the entire team

He has a bee in his bonnet already

He was LITERALLY out scoring every other player on the team when he was in the top 6.

Tortorella got flack for scratching his most productive player. Darryl permanently moved his to the fourth line and is now scratching him

He doesn't look like an NHLer to me. Only reason he's on the team is the waiver risk and the Flames are already thin on D.

Calm down a bit there. They needed someone better than Rooney for the centre on that line and Lewis was hurt. That is why he is there.

Man I dislike how this Sutter has handled young players, he wasnt like this in San Jose or early in his Calgary tenure (03-04 specifically he gave lots of young guys prominent spots)
Ruzicka has been meh for a while, so I agree with Sutter's decision to pull him out of the lineup if that's indeed going to happen for the next game.

Is there anyone who can provide logic or at least play devil's advocate for Lucic being on the 2nd line? It's like a sick joke at this point.

If be okay with Pelletier, Looch for net front presence or Coleman on PP2 in Ruzicka"s spot.

What do you not like about him? I think his struggles have mostly been nerves and making bone headed plays that he never done in the AHL. I think his issues were mental due to knowing that a mistake will end up in him being scratched, which ended up happening.

I think he will be a NHL regular next year, just not on the Flames.

Stone mkaes just as many mistakes as Mackey did but we all know that Sutter has different standards for vets

Pelletier gets a lot of points on the PP down in the AHL, would not mind seeing him on PP2

Wish I could see this:

Huberdeau - Kadri - Dube
Pelletier - Lindholm - Toffoli
Mangiapane - Backlund - Phillips
Coleman - Ruzicka - Lewis
Lucic

Hanifin - Andersson
Zadorov - Weegar
Mackey - Tanev
Stone

Well if Pelletier is going to be the savior, this is his chance to prove that he can play well enough to be a top 9 player on the roster. The only player that likely would be moved out would be Lucic. So he's the placeholder until then.

Me personally would just put a young guy there off the jump, but Sutter does his ways.

It doesnt matter what line Pelletier is on, just happy to see him draw in.

Now the ball is in his court to show Sutter what kind of icetime or linemates he deserves with his play.

I don't get the Dube hate he has been good.

This was a good time to get the team a fresh look and get some offensive jump into the lineup but Sutter being his stubborn self once again. Watch Pelts get 3-4 minutes on Saturday and sent down after the game.

Whoever said Sutter would rather lose playing his way rather than change and win was correct.

Ruzkicka was scoring when he was top 9 but IIRC he'd gone cold, plus a lot of detail was disapppearing from his game, and Sutter likes detail.

Anyway, the only debate is between him and Lucic, and ES they are almost identical in points. Ruzicka has 2 more assists - that's the difference.
