I didn't really know much about this band but I kept seeing the album on "best of 2022" lists so downloaded it and it's a lot of fun. Kind of an 80's Slayer meets wild west theme.
Iron Maiden has the craziest legacy in Metal: Never on the radio, never on MTV, to 99% of people they are the band with tacky shirts that they've never actually heard. Also: selling out arenas and stadiums for 40 years, 200M albums sold, still putting out fantastic music late into their career with albums still selling +1M.
True for the most part but I just recently listened to the first single from Senjutsu, "The Writing On the Wall". Uninspired, derivative and boring. Dickinson is fine but I see the only other writing credit is Smith, those are some weak riffs from Adrian.
But yes, such a great band. The Flight 666 documentary is one of my favorites.

Judas Priest has to be maybe the most mainstream of the power metal bands of the 70's and 80's but they didn't sell as much records. Even though they may not have been big on MTV and stuff Iron Maiden was huge in the 80's in an era when people were buying albums. Eddie was also marketing genius as it gave them major recognition.

Born of Osiris, Reaping Asmodeia and Bystander are playing a show March 3rd at Dickens Pub. I'll be going but I haven't listened to the openers at all.
Anyone attempting to buy tickets tomorrow for the single night Metallica shows? I didn't even consider buying 2 nights, not spending 3 days in Edmonton or driving twice and Five Finger Death Punch are garbage.
Looks like $271 for the worst seats, $394 for up high in middle and $523 for lower level. I don't think I like Metallica that much.

I'm only modestly interested in the Phil and friends show. A friend of mine is a die hard metallica fan and bought 4 tickets to each show already, so I mentioned to him I'd be down for buying one of the Pantera night tickets. If he finds someone else, meh, I've seen metallica twice in my teens and while seeing Anselmo on stage would be cool, without Vinny and Dime I'm not overly invested.
