While Seravalli seemed to be more clickbaity since going independent, saying what he's said is very bold. So much so I think company guys like Friedman would call him out if he was completely making it up. So I do think there's some credibility to what he's saying here. If Sutter wants the team, I hope every season ticket holder is threatening to cancel their tickets. He power struggled once, what direction does he want? He's not a great decision maker anymore. I really really hope this is completely wrong because this team is much better than they actually are right now. I'll be happy if they go the rebuild direction but to see a power struggle is the worst scenario at this point.

#### it. Let Treliving walk and throw Sutter the reins. I would actually have a good laugh. This team sucks so let's see what kind of horse #### he can come up with.

I can see Sutter not jiving with Tre. Sutter keeps taking little jabs at the state of the franchise before he came in, as well as little comments about Tre's signings and the prospects not pushing the vets at all, etc. I personally believe that Sutter was NOT a Tre signing, and that Tre is out the door this summer. God help us if Darryl takes over the GM job.
Best case scenario is Dean Lombardi being brought in to be the GM to work with him, but Lombardi has a pretty cushy job with the Flyers....

There's no loyalty in a media industry decimated by ruthless cut after cut by major corporations. So "company reporter" is a weird term in my mind. If a reporter or insider isn't pursuing a story, it's because they want to protect their own access and sources, a.k.a. their personal brand. It's not out of loyalty to a company that one day could turf them.

Me and the other owners can sell the majority to Edwards and him and Sutter can live happily ever after destroying the team.

Sutter bailed Lombardi out in 2012 so he owes Darryl one

I meant company man as in the Flames (or any Canadian city outside Montreal and Toronto) are the company. like Oilers reporters put out fluff on the Oilers, rarely critical and almost never insightful. Same for Calgary, just different fluff.

Yet if you read twitter Oiler fans think their media is so harsh on the team and runs players out of town. I agree with you though that they are soft overall and pump that organization far more than they trash it
I thought the Vancouver media was not holding back and asking Rutherford some tough questions earlier this week.

I could consider some truth to this if it was leaked to him from someone within the org but he is basing this off of his perception.

Sutter’s first two years as GM were the best run by a country mile since Fletcher. But it went to hell and I want no part of him back in that role. For one thing, I just see him much more effective leading athletes than I do with white collar workers.
But I have doubted that hiring Sutter was purely Treliving’s choice since day one. So no reason to think they’re a match made in heaven.

Obviously the Phaneuf trade sucked and stands out, but I wonder if that skews his overall record as GM.

That drafting is even worse than I remembered. It’s basically the same crew, you so you know they were taking Sutter’s directions

The ultimate nightmare is D. Sutter being GM again. That seriously might finally be last straw that disconnects me from this team.

I'm oddly indifferent about it.
Last go around when he left, it felt like more was at stake with key rebuilding moves needing to be made. He wasn't the guy for that.
If ownership wants a GM to 'veteran' this thing up, win now and expend any trade capital we have, then so be it. It's the direction this thing is going anyway. If it crashes and burns, then it comes to a head either way, and it'll force ownership's hand to rebuild.
If there's merit to this, it's a shame on the Treliving front. I think with the right ownership group and the ability to run the organization his way, Brad is a top 3 GM in the league.

If there is any truth to it this tells me Tre was not a Sutter hire and it was Ownership that brought him in. I don’t want him as GM

It looks like most of Sutter's trades and signings were OK, just one really big blunder. Drafting though... a few nice picks, but mostly trash. I don't know how much he had a hand in it, or if it was the staff. I recall some talk before that he only really made his pick in the 1st round, but then let the scouts run the show after that. I also kind of give him credit for acquiring Sean Donovan. It was rumoured at the time that Sutter identified him as a player to acquire and Button did it.
His worst move of course was firing himself as coach and hiring Brent.
Weird that Capfriendly has Chris Butler as a Flames draft pick though. A rare mistake for them I guess.
