Unsustainable minutes every game seem to be wearing Calgary's own, Cale, down

We’re over half a season in, and the flames are in the last possible playoff spot.

My post reads, to me, as a fan of a bubble team… what’s the beef?

Huge break for the Flames. They need to take advantage.

playoff spot has more to do with late October and November results than recent results. Recent results have been much better.

Over a 100 point pace for 23 games or whatever.

Fair point.

Interesting to note, since Nov 29th (24 games ago) , to now, they have played at a 0.625 points pace (to your point, is at a 100+ point clip).

Interestingly, the flames were in the exact same playoff position, on that day as they are today , the last wildcard spot, below the oilers.

In 2027, hopefully you will have the chance to do that 41 times a season.

My point is that in-spite of the amazing pace that folks keep speaking about, they do need to do better if they intend to rise in the standings. Going on a bit of a run here will help to do that, which is what I was trying to suggest in my initial post.

I don’t even mean win tonight. This is a tough game in my opinion, as is the next, but seeing a streak of wins in the near future, would better help to solidify their standing.

You're suggesting they don't work hard (not playing 60 minutes) and that they've had no results.

Their last 23 are better than the first 22.

MacKinnon has been tearing it up over the last 5 games, but they're still fighting a lot of injuries, and Georgiev has been getting lit up lately. Perfect time to beat the cup champs!

To clarify, I don’t think the team plays at a high enough level in all 3 periods. They either start slow and are chasing, or have weak 3rd periods causing blown leads .

I feel they need better results for sure. They had a better last 24 games, but see the link I shared above, they haven’t moved up at all in the standings, just keep pace with others in the hunt.

As such, yes, more wins than settling for OTLs please.

All good ... certainly not trying to pick on you.

But in my opinion every fan base thinks their team fails to play 60 minutes when in fact it's just the opposing team imposing their will for a period of time.

unless I misheard the broadcast the Flames lead the league in first period goals?

I don't think they are chasing all that often early...2nd and maybe the 3rd are the areas to clean up

It would be nice if the flames could actually win when Markstrom was in net.

No Makar means that a game is actually winnable. Hope the team shows up.
