For LA, we lose a long term piece, but shake up the mix that has been sliding. Also gambling on Gurianov being traded in real life, and finding some of the old magic under a new regime. Schmidt is a UFA that will play this year, even if he is a rental.

The Habs have been after Joshua Roy since the draft, and LA was looking for a kickstart to the second half of the season. Hartman might have the brains of a hamster, but he's rated pretty good right now. Getting Gaucher back is pretty much a long term, third line centre with even stats across the board, no drama and probably always rated the same every year, prospect. Can always use one of those.

Devils shake up the team that is underperforming by bringing in a new starting goalie - John Gibson. Gibson is one of the top sim goalies this year.

I made a mistake with JP not once but TWICE!
First, I drafted him 3rd overall, when I could have drafted Dubois or Tkachuk. At the time he was the consensus 3rd pick, but in retrospect he didn't have the offensive upside and that was the question at the time.

And then I went and traded for him some time later.

And then I went and signed him to a dumb RFA deal

So I guess make that 3 mistakes.

In this case, I bring in some veteran two-way help, which is important for a potential playoff run.
