In Burkie's early days when he was doing player representation, he had a policy of managing their finances also.
If you were going to sign with him, you can only spend X on a car. You can only spend X on clothes a month. Too restrictive for you? Wonderful, he can find you a yes-man agent instead to help you blow it all. But if you want to sign with him these are his rules.
Heck he even had legally binding agreements in place with financial advisors to his players that they could sue the advisors if they lost their money.
Every agent handling a young superstar getting handed a huge bonus should have been like Brian Burke.

I have an old friend whose brother was a relatively high draft pick and played a while in the NHL. He told me about how after his brother was drafted, the team management started educating him about how once he started making a lot of money, there were be people trying to take it away from him. They insisted that he get professional help during his career to manage it and were able to recommend people. They recommended that all financial decisions go through a qualified advisor. After he was drafted, he stayed in junior for a bit and even then, he said immediately people started contacting him to invest it all kinds of crack pot ideas. There are a lot of vultures out there just pining to take advantage of teens who look like they are going to be high earners.
I hope most teams take a similar approach to help educate their prospects on the realty of their situation.

Unfortunately, those two go hand in hand in allot of cases. Gambling must be hard as well. Especially when your bipolar has you on a high and you think you can't lose.

I'm not sure they're allowed to. I'm no CBA expert, but from a Tax Perspective that would be considered a Taxable Benefit and is usually included in compensation.
Within the context of the NHL and the CBA that could be considered circumvention because a player is in effect being compensated outside of HRR.
But someone who knows the CBA way better than I do would have to chime in on that.

There are a million expenses associated with being traded that wouldn't be fair to players, so it's reasonable for them to be reimbursed for them. At the end of the day, they considered employee's and the expenses for trades would be a business expense.
Players breaking a lease or mortgage contract, having to move household items, cars etc. Girlfriends, wives, children etc need to be flown into a new city. Hotel costs in new city, rental car etc.
A player making a huge salary might not sweat a once in a career big move but bubble players who are traded a lot won't be forking over large amounts of cash.
I am too lazy to look it up but there is no way that specific parameters and a schedule are not part of the modern CBA. It would give certain teams an advantage and other's would be at a disadvantage.

The CBA covers it in Article 14. TL but most short term expenses seem to be covered by eitehr the new team or the old one (depending on why the player was transferred).

Okay. I'm no Twitter aficionado but at one point he did say that his account was hacked and that wasn't him but...again, I don't know for sure. You've got someone who is not exactly mentally rock solid?
I hope he's got good support and I hope he's doing okay.
