Total team collapse in the third not a good sign. I still think this team should be doing what it can do to get a shot at Bedard because the playoffs are going to be a waste of time. But the Flames making the playoffs goes a long way to keeping the grease out. As long as Bedard goes East I guess.
It’ll really take something special for this crown to slip.

I am not worried either as they will eventually lock it down, with Sutter at the helm. However, the Flames are far from a young team, as from my recollection, one of the older teams in the league these days, when it comes to the average age (I believe 7th oldest)

I don't watch much anymore, but I usually look at moneypuck's "deserve to win o meter" after games, earlier in the season the Flames rarely came out on top of that thing, even when they won. Lately they've been the better team according to those metrics way more often than not, win or lose.

I think winning the game is a key difference. Vladar loses, sure put Markstrom in.

Against teams above .500 Vladar is now 3 games above .500 in 12 starts. Markstrom is 2 games under .500 in 19 starts against teams above .500.

I don’t disagree that Vladar should get starts going forward for the time being. This is simply about how people talk about Markstrom - even when he wins. This same performance would have had certain posters sharpening pitchforks. Even though none of the goals were terrible.

Again, the most dangerous lead in hockey is a Flames lead.

Nope. They kept the lead and won the game.

Dallas is a very good team and played hard in the third. Had some puck luck.

I don’t think it was the quite the epic collapse some are saying.

I miss the solid meme game folks would have in PGT after wins.

Gotta let Dallas keep thinking they’re a good team.

Not really.

They didnt give up a shot in the first 7 minutes, then the first one was a goal against.

Then a tip from Pavelski on kind of a nothing play, followed by a bit of a soft one by Vladar.

Really they just ended up getting similar puck luck to what the Flames got in the second in the third.

The Flames really need to figure out how to maintain a consistent effort over the full 60 minutes. They looked amazing in the first and second, and just awful in the third. It was like they were doing their best Canucks impression, trying to blow a multi goal lead.

Vladar was great in first two periods two, but was not great in the third. Maybe more on the team though, since none of the goals really seemed 'bad'. Just proves my belief that we can't just throw Markstrom in the garbage; Vladar will have games like this and we need Markstrom to be going as well, so he can allow Vladar some time to reset.
