People wonder why the threads are shorter than after a win? It's because there is no discussion after a win. It's about eight pages of the same stupid gif files, people begging for lame list of salty comments from fans from other sites, and listening to the super fans tell everyone else how to much better a fan they are because they have prescription rose colored glasses and don't complain about anything, except other fans who choose to cheer for the team the way they want. Want a longer more active thread? Try putting something out there to discuss.

Personally, I thought it was a weak win. The same garbage boring hockey was played but this time the breakdowns happened to the Blues more than they happened to the Flames. The Flames actually got some lucky breaks that ended up in the back of the net. It wasn't a great performance by the Flames, it was more fortune went their way. Absolutely nothing changed between games other than our goaltender didn't shat the bed. If there was one positive it was the team didn't fold after the early third period goal, because it sure felt like "here we go again" time.

It was great to see Duehr get his first goal. Nice to see a Flames player do that since it happens to the Flames so often. I like what the big guy brings to the table. I wouldn't mind seeing a line of Ruzicka-Zahorna-Duehr and see what they can do. A line of really big boys with a nice mix of skill and ability to play the Sutter game. Would be fun to see what they do.

Would also like to see Mangiapane see a few games in the press box. Watching him play is like watching a Seinfeld re-run. Nothing happens and half the time you're left cringing or shaking your head. He needs some time to watch the game and some film from the start of last year to see what made him successful. They need that player back ASAP. Would give Pelletier a shot too. Need to see if he can stay on his skates or his he's going to be a Mangiapane clone.

Haha lol. PGTs after a loss are hardly constructive discussion about the game, they are full of rambling and sh###### on players and coach and management. If there is something positive about the game, it will not get mentioned. It's about 15 pages of the same "I have been a fan for 40 years and I hate everything about this franchise" mile long rambles.

Circumstances have stopped me from seeing a lot of the games on TV this year (usually radio), but I got to see most of this one and it was a really solid effort across the board. Hoping Vladar gets a good run of games here and we can finally string some wins together.

it would be nice to know what is in sutters mind about his goalies after last night. it really seems obvious that right now vladar gives the flames the best chance to win, and it is time he started to play more games. maybe given him 6 out of the next ten and see how he handles the workload

Mangiapane is about to get hot. Two more posts tonight and scored last game.

He's streaky for sure, but when he's hot he's incredible. I am looking forward to his second half of the season.

Flames got lucky there as magipange grabbed the guys sweater while going in for the forecheck.

Expected goals against 20.25
Actual goals against 14.0

He was great in that series, probably the 2nd best goaltender in the first round.

no upside left in these vets

I just want to see us build a better product by teaching a young group if bottom sixers the ropes of the 200 foot game so we can enjoy some actual speed and skill after line 2

deferring to old guys who've seen their best days is such a lazy way to fill out your roster when you're signing 4 or 5 of them

less replacement level vets in the future please

watching zohorna, ruzicka and duehr down there has been incomparably more enjoyable

invest in the players you hand picked and developed
Don't you think this is the plan?

Sign guys near league minimum and hope you get some youth to rise up and bump them out of their spots.

We see it every year.

Rooney was the first to go. Ritchie is hurt now so we will see. But the fourth line has been remade with younger players of late and they seem to have more traction.

But you can't just come into camp with no one to compete with and hope the young guys take it.

I simply responded to him saying that PGTs after a win doesn't have discussion. What does comments like "Huberdeau is a bum, Mangiapane is ####, Markström is ####, Sutter doesn't know how to coach, we are ####, I don't care about this team, this is a bad team" bring to the table either? His comment had good points about the game and how this team is performing. The part about 'discussion' is what I found funny and ironic

Went back to the Vladar trade thread on HF and took a couple of sniplets from posters:

Calgary is getting a big big guy that is athletic. Like all big goalies, a little prone to opening up some holes when he has to move around. A legit potential starting goalie in the NHL.

Absolutely loved by everyone in Providence/Bruins Org. Just a great, great kid.

They get a great G prospect that is pretty much developed who they can’t ruin, for a 3rd pick, steal of a deal for them. What blows my mind is that the Avs and especially the Oilers didn’t pay more than this for Vladar, huge miss by those 2 teams.

Really enjoyed the forecheck/pressure Back's line had all game.
Lindy's line had some great cycles and zone time.
Blues had an easier time to break out when Kadri's line was on as F1 and F2 stood flat footed in the O-zone while Blues D was behind the net weighing his options.
Lewis' line played the right way.

Points in 16 of last 20 games! (10-4-6)

Also during the game there was talk about the NHL point system. To me (I'm old) a game is worth 2 points and not 3 (when game goes to OT).

I know the NHL would never approve but it should be
2 pts for a regulation win.
1.5 point for OT/SO win
.5 point for the loser of OT/SO.

There are 1312 games played in the regular season and only 2624 point should be awarded.

Lots of comments about the Flames playing better in front of Vladar.

Pulled the stats, but then it occurred to me you can interpret all of these two ways.

All situations ...

Markstrom
Flames score 2.84/60
Give up 2.77/60

Generate 3.25/60
Generated against 2.72/60

Vladar
Flames score 3.42/60
Give up 2.73/60

Generate 3.14/60
Generated against 2.92/60

So what do you make of that?

They technically play better in front of Markstrom in terms of chances for and against and the resulting expected goals.

But they give Vladar more run support so he gets more wins.

Actually goalie performance has Vladar up but it's razor tight.

So if you like Markstrom you say he's not getting the run support. If you like Vladar you say they score more for him because they feel more comfortable.

Spin is available both ways.

I hope they just run DV for the rest of the season. Markstrom should be the back up.
