Vancouver benched him in the 2nd round and put in Demko, then let him go in the off season Yes I watched him beat the last wildcard team, (Dallas) and completely fall apart against Edmonton
Did you though? They weren't actually the last wildcard team so I think you might be full of it.

He was injured...he was named their MVP that season. He got them in the playoffs (check his numbers vs. Demko) won the play in round, won round one, and then went out with an injury. He was facing 40-50 shots a game.
They offered Markstom a contract but wouldn't give him a NMC because of the expansion draft
Its hilarious you responded to a post about making things up with this nonsense

I’m still low key choked that part of the reason why Dallas finished ahead Nashville is because Tkachuk scored that last second goal against them to tie it and then we won in overtime after Saros got injured. Not to mention Nashville blowing a lead 4-0 against ****ing Arizona in their last regular season game.
It should have been Colorado against Dallas, and us sweeping Nashville instead. Then we would have played the Oilers with Tanev and Zadorov healthy.
But no, I’m not bitter about any of that at all…
Relatively speaking...Dallas was soft AF. The aforementioned game was an absolute war with Nashville with 2 big teams. I can maybe believe it could have been a sweep (unlikely), but the odds of us coming out of a series with Nashville without significant injuries was likewise low...
Not sure whether I want to put my money on you, or on a 2-time Stanley Cup winning coach. Appeal to authority, I know, but my money's on Sutter knowing more than you.
owiee
I'm just part of the peanut gallery
I would place big bucks on markstrom fading in his career trajectory from here though. he does not strike me as someone that has a career type resurgence in him at this point
and we keep sending him out there, only to be met with disappointment
don't think it implies "i'm smarter than a cup winning coach" to say, based on the body of work, that we should stop playing that guy so much
I just don't think the path of playing him more out of faith has a happy ending. the gaffes just continue to persist, and the numbers speak for themselves
I'll eat crow if wrong but I really don't think I am
he can't seem to go more than a couple periods without a small implosion
he's a Flame and you still wish success on the guy, but let's just call it intellectual honesty half way into this season

This has been a tough year for him, and I wouldn't be surprised if it continues to be. However, I bet he has a strong bounce-back season next year.
You don't just throw players away the minute they have a slump.

I do forget how bad his numbers are this year
it is a low bar and he will probably surpass it next season but on the whole, i think he trends south and I don't think he's coming anywhere near the vezina caliber season again
something's broke, and i don't trust in the goalie coaching staff that has overseen like 16 of 18 goalies since kipper leave Calgary looking worse than before they arrived (many of which played themselves out of the league) to help him turn his confidence and fundamentals around
we should've tried to get that canucks goalie coach out of van, who oversaw a lot of his best hockey

Ever since Radulov left the Stars, the Flames became ugliest team in hockey.
Zadorov looks like a ####in cucumber
Lindholm is so pretty. And Hanifin, Coleman, Andersson, Vladar, even Tanev in a way. Zadorov is awesome, so whoever said that can choose someone else to pick on!
A desperate, not pretty, but still a solid grind win. High danger chances were 13-5 Flames. Vladar solid, Duehr with his 1st. And this place is MISERABLE. Dear god, Calgarypuck is something else

Two posters are bellyaching about Markstrom and Reggie Dunlop is making inane posts which add nothing to the conversation, and that only they laugh at. That happens every day.
CP is not miserable. It was a great win, Go Flames Go!
