Rightly or wrongly, that is a brief summary of why Albertans have trust issues with the Trudeau family. I was too young to have a real solid opinion of Pierre Elliot but, watching retrospectives on him, I personally like him a lot more than his son. A lot more.
Yeah I am familiar with NEP 1.0, I was just curious was this 2.0 stuff was about in the Yoho junk tweet. I guess it is just something that these clever media guys are using to drum up more Trudeau hate.

You can use that data to show how much better for Alberta post-payout projects are. Compare MEG Christina Lake to Cenovus Christina Lake. They're similar and next to each other, although the Cenovus project is bigger- it produced about 2.5x more oil in 2021.

Cenovus has reached payout and MEG hasn't. In 2021 MEG paid $80MM in royalties, while CVE was over a billion. Even if you scale that up by size and say MEG would have paid $200MM on a project the same size, the difference is 5X, and it would have been much larger in the first half of 2022 when prices spiked, as both CVE profits and the governments take rate increased.

Historically operators kept doing expansions to push back reaching payout, which was good for jobs but bad for royalties. Now they've stopped doing that because the capital markets hate oil and gas capex, so projects are paying out and the AB government is cashing in.

Don’t hold your breath on it flowing anything this year.

Remind me of the last time CTV did fact check on one of Notley statements or quotes.

It’s a quote from the TransMountain company itself, you goof.

I know you have trouble reading past the 280 characters in a tweet, but the statement that the pipeline will be complete and running by the end of the year came from TransCanada, not Notley or Freeland

Quote:
According to Trans Mountain's third quarter results from last year, the company anticipates the pipeline will be mechanically complete by the third quarter of 2023 and oil will be flowing through it late in the fourth quarter.

While the cancellation of two out of the four examples mentioned by Smith were out of Canada's control – Northern Gateway was stopped by the Federal Court of Appeal while Keystone XL was killed by U.S. President Joe Biden – the idea that TMX won't be complete by the end of the year is also inaccurate, the company says.
I know CTV doesn't get the funding support of our state broadcaster of propaganda, but damn, they really bungled that up. The link for "Northern Gateway" goes to an article about TMX. I'm pretty sure Northern Gateway was essentially stopped by the feds, though I'm not convinced the courts wouldn't have blocked it at some point anyway, given challenges from indigenous groups along the route. I suspect had the feds approved it, it would still be tied up in court.

EE was essentially cancelled by Quebec, and the assumption KXL was going to happen.

Smith is being handled by parties other than Rob Anderson. Problem is that underneath the spin she is indeed bat #### crazy and just waiting to spew all things convoy.

Funny, she wasn't concerned about the courts with the Sovereignty Act.

Also, does a Sovereign Alberta need to worry about the courts?

We must built pipelines! But don't trust what those pipeline companies say about the status of their construction!

Take Back Alberta is keeping her quiet to appeal to the moderate votes. Once they get government, they'll open her back up and push a far more obvious libertarian agenda.

And in many ways, it's not hard to see her as a useful idiot for that group. They're tightening their grip inside the UCP and their constituency associations.

Take Back Alberta will push the Sovereignty Act far more obtusely if/when she gets elected again.

Freaking Danielle Smith with her comments on these pipelines:
Just to summarize:

1) Completely mischaracterizes why 2 projects were cancelled (Northern Gateway & KXL) by blaming the Federal Government (Trudeau did it!)
2) Makes incorrect statements about the one pipeline that is being built (More on that below)
3) Fails to mention how/why that one pipeline is being built (Thanks Alberta NDP and Federal Liberals)

Is she a complete liar, or is she just so ignorant of the state of the industry for which she tries so desperately to be seen as the patron saint?

More importantly about her statements on TMX:
1) How the hell does she not know what it's status is. If you're going to position yourself as the savior/defender of the oil and gas industry, you should probably know the status of a major project
2) What the hell is she doing making statements like that, specifically speculating that it might not be operating on schedule? That pipeline has customers who's stock price (among other things) is partially dependent on the completion/operation of that pipeline. She's casting uncertainty onto those companies and related projects for no reason other than her own ignorance. That is a STUPID, STUPID, remark, and has/had the potential to do real damage to the project (particularly in the sense of attracting additional investors in the line itself).

She's not interfering but she's just regularly asking prosecutors if, you know, that's going to be a conviction or not.

She has to create the illusion that it’s not happening and that only her party will get it done to try and get votes from the misinformed. The UCP know that if they lose the next election and this pipeline is operational near the beginning of the NDP’s term they are going to have a much harder time getting them voted out in 4 years because the province will be in much better economic shape than what the NDP inherited in 2015. This will be a very important election for our province.
