Thats because they largely suck at writing them.

Those ones in Andor were so, so good.

These have been floating around for a while. But Howard Day has done an amazing job of these animations.

I thought it was a good start to the season, as it didn't deal with anything more deeply then what the Bad Batch was up to and how they were going to survive.

Spoiler!

Tales of the Jedi is awesome. Especially the Dooku stuff. Between that and the finial episodes of The Clone Wars, it’s such a shame that the same story could have been told as episodes 1-3, Lucas just chose the worst parts to tell.

The only thing I didn't like about Tales of the Jedi was how short the episodes were. Would have loved more content.

While true, I did get the impression that this was a 'dipping a toe in the water' to sort of determine the appetite for more.

I read an article a while back that one of the major benefits of Disney+ is that it gives Disney a lot more data and analytics to see what subscribers are watching which helps them gauge what they should be focusing more on.

So if Tales was a success based on their metrics then we'll probably get more content.

Some more thoughts, non spoiler and spoiler.

They've really after years of work really nailed down the animation, there were some absolutely beautiful scenes. The scenes in front of the memorial, the battle scene and using the reflective disks. The sound effects of the Droidikas rolling in was awesome. Even the music selection is great. Dee Bradley has done awesome work doing like ninety percent of the voice work and he makes each clone distinct.

Spoiler!

I have been enjoying Bad Batch, but I really miss the narrator from Clone Wars though. He added a little something extra.

I wonder if Cody going AWOL is going to be a precursor for Crosshair to flip and try to join Unit 99 again. He dies in battle, but not before saving Omega and redeeming his honor.

I keep thinking that he didn’t actually have his inhibitor chip removed, or it was replaced with something to align his behavior closer to The Empire’s philosophy.

He did remove the chip himself. It didn't make a difference as he has a really simplified world view. Soldier's obey orders and have a certain amount of faith that what they're doing is right.

Crosshairs doesn't question policy or politics, just his individual results and the results of those around him.

Did he say he removed it himself? I thought he just said it was already removed, with no additional detail about who did it or whether that could be verified. The scar on his head isn’t necessarily evidence.

Yeah, I thought he said in the last couple of episodes of season 1 that he had removed it.

I remember that even before order 66 in the clone war episodes that he was very hardcore.

Which is what makes Crosshair an interesting character.

There are people in the world, and thus presumably the Star Wars Galaxy, that just want to make their way through their lives in a manner that they can comprehend and for him that means just being a 'Good Soldier' and doing what he's told.

We see that in the juxtaposition of the Bad Batch and Crosshair.

The Batch have to learn how to make their way through the Galaxy on their own. They've lived a lifetime of...'comfort' isnt strictly the right term, but their basic needs were provided for. They had meals provided, materiel, transport, basic supplies and logistics that they now have to come up with on their own and its a struggle for them, whereas Crosshair still operates under that umbrella.

I think its fairly evident that at some point this is going to come to a head for Crosshair. He will at some point have to cross his Rubicon.

Because while he just wants to be a Good Soldier and follow orders, he also routinely recognizes that those orders are often non-sensical and stupid. There will come a time where his conviction that 'He knows better' will come at the expense of just following orders.

Then we see whether he decides to re-join the Batch or strike out on his own or if he doubles down and starts looking to climb the Imperial ranks in order to be the one giving the orders rather than simply receiving them and blindly following them.

I think that Crosshair will have a noble end. He'll disobey orders and sacrifice himself to save either the batch, or a bunch of clones from Stormtroopers in a last stand for the ages.

We know how this is going to end, by Rogue one there aren't any clones.

Sigh. Don't you think that would be a little too cliche and expected? He should just stay true to his character and wipe out the others, but I guess that isn't as Disney-esque as him doing a Darth Vader/Anakin or Kylo Ren/Ben Solo realization at the very end of things.
