Just finished the game after avoiding the score all night.
Frustrating end to what was once a game the Flames had in full control. Second goal was obviously all Markstrom and can’t happen. Third goal was soft too and he should have been pulled then. He did get back into it after settling down a bit.
Toffoli and Weegar hitting the post at 3-1 was a kick in the gut. I don’t see a way back for STL if one of those goes in.
This team and overtime…..my goodness.
It’s really not indicative of some ever growing issue that will haunt this team come April. It’s 3 on 3. You kinda have to brush it off.
Flames are in a playoff spot tonight, they’ll be in one tomorrow and before they play on Thursday.
I don’t think people here appreciate just how tough it is to make the playoffs these days. The margin for error is razor thin and it’s a true marathon. Even the best teams in the west(Dallas/Vegas) aren’t some unbeatable juggernaut that are just flying right now.
We’re 9 points out of first in the conference having lost a crap ton of 3 on 3 hockey. 9 points is not 20.
The separation between the Flames and the top dogs in the west is nowhere as big as some would have you believe. Flames have dug too deep a hole to make a legit shot at landing a divison spot but to say they haven’t played better 5 on 5 since the dark days of November is just false. They’re doing a lot of good things lately.
Having some of those damn posts go in would be nice.

If I was Phillips I’d be asking the Flames to please try to trade me to anywhere since my career is on the line and there’s nothing more I can do to get into the Flames with a true legitimate shot. Ditto for Pelletier.
Meanwhile we have big name players having huge stretches of games playing like dog####. Old Sutter would have bumped big names down the lineup. This year? Enshrined stations on lines and grumpy face. Hey, why don’t you, oh I dunno, ####ing do something Sutter? Sit people. Move fresh bodies into the line up full of piss and vinegar.
Sorry as displayed by the Blues tonight- the difference between the AHL and the NHL is NOT THAT BIG. It’s in fact likely never been narrower. So many players can slide into NHL lineups and look fine / not out of place. This mystique that the NHL is somehow “a grown man’s league” and the AHL “a boys league” is straight up total BS for the last few years as contracts and the CBA have dictated that teams move more youth from the farm into NHL rosters. Calgary needs to pull heads out of asses at a managerial / coaching level and demote poor play and promote good play from the farm pushing for spots. It is not acceptable to watch whatever Lindholm was dojnh tonight. Bench his ass and move up Duerr or others who are ready to skate and play. Kadri couldn’t have been more disinterested in the 3rd. Why the #### is he starting in OT and look at that horrendous “back check” where he pretends to look like he’s “skating really hard” and the straight up stops at the end. If he was actually going hard the whole way he would have broken up that pass and that cost the team a point. Just lazy.
Get Phillips and Pelletier in and move some bodies to the farm. No reason whatsoever you can’t move guys up and down more. Oh no- somebody might claim Coleman? He makes a billion dollars so no, nobody will and who cares if they do. I believe I was told a couple days ago he’s “elite” which is laughable. What this team needs is a gigantic kick in the ass, and obviously Sutter is not pulling the right strings which is straight up shortening ice time and his bench.
This should be a meritocracy. People are not entitled to ice time.

He almost certainly isn't...he has also cleared waivers multiple times
I would give him more of a shot but some posters expectations of this player are kinda crazy

Got lucky, still up 4-3 but the Avs are coming in hot
This is too much like the Flames game

Lol, I honestly appreciate your optimism and deflection from Flames issues. I actually mean that sincerely, I wish I could enjoy and see the Flames the way you do.

This doesn't even make sense though
The Panthers and Avs game is important to the Flames...Panthers ended up winning after almost blowing a massive lead. Flames gained a point on the Avs tonight.
I have complained multiple times about the goaltending that cost the Flames a point tonight...one post about a relevant game that was going on at the time
it was posted hours ago when the game was going on...not deflection at all it looked like a double whammy for the Flames of comebacks. Luckily the Avs scored on themselves to lose in regulation

Dude, I actually appreciate your perspective, but it's okay to be honest - You bring up the Panthers failures with Tkachuk repeatedly on this forum when the Flames are sucking and receiving major criticism. Everyone can see that.
To pass it off as "well no, I brought it up because the loss by the Av's has meaning to the Flames in the standings" is silly, everyone is smarter than that, lol.

I never read it as that. I read it as the Avs are right there in the think of the playoff chase with the Flames and he was commenting on that.
The first thing I checked after I watched the game late tonight was the other scores for team around the playoff bar.

Meh. I don’t think I’ve been this apathetic towards a Flames team since 2013 when they traded Iginla. I’m finding it hard to care about them right now. I don’t find myself looking forward to games, and honestly I don’t find myself getting overly excited about wins right now.
I miss caring about this team, but I’m finding it difficult to find a reason to care right now. They’re not an elite team. They have no high end prospects coming. They have no elite talent on the current roster. They don’t play an exciting brand. I seriously struggle to think of a single franchise that I’m glad I don’t cheer for compared to the Flames right now. Maybe Vancouver or San Jose? Philly? That might be it.

In his defence Lucic has been playing pretty well since they sat him. The team is getting what they should out of him.
He’s not the biggest problem.

They need faster players in the 3 on 3.
Huberdeau and Kadri are a disaster in OT.

I am being honest and you are totally wrong...the game was going on as I posted that and its very relevant to the Flames...Others were also posting about the Avs and other teams in the playoff race back on that page.
I also posted about 10 critical takes about the goaltending costing them the game and one about the OOT
lol yourself, you totally misread that...thanks for the backhanded "compliment"
Panthers won for once and I am glad they did as it helped the Flames
You're damn right I was pissed when they choked the lead just like the Flames did...was cheering for the Panthers tonight obviously
Every single PGT and even GT people post about the OOT for relevant teams, its hardly deflection...I had already trashed Markstrom's effort, what more is there to say about it?

Seems like a reasonable thing to do in a playoff race
a Flames loss is much worse if everyone else in the race wins on a given night...a team blowing a 4-1 third period lead to a team directly behind the Flames on a night they blew a two goal lead themselves was certainly noteworthy. Thank god for secret agent Makar who scored on himself for the Panthers win.

Welp, I'm gonna be ######g mad if Sutter doesn't start Vladdy on Thursday. At the end of 2nd, I did thought that they will win in regulation. Blues didn't get much going on that period. Then I fast forward the intermission and boom, tie game. Didn't see the 2 goals so don't know how that happened but boy did I just fell into apathy. I have no doubt Flames would have won if Vladar was in net and it would have never gone to OT.
Duehr looked fine, let's hope Pelletier gets his shot on Thursday.

Yes. You can't escape. Sometimes I wish I could just jump off, but the emotional tie can't be broken

Andersson getting off way too easy in the PGT.
Screens the goalie on goal #3 and wtf was that on the 2 on 1 in OT? His job is to take the pass, he left Markstrom out to dry.
That second goal was pathetic by Markstrom, peewee stuff.
What has happened to the power of the Swedes?

Missed the game but checked the score(OTL but we get a point), standings-1st wildcard, nice, playoff odds 85%, nice(Coilers at 62).
But then I read the game thread and there's no correlation what so ever, yikes!

Just to be clear, it's okay to throw Markstrom under the bus today? Other post game threads where he's let in soft goals threads have been hijacked by posters determined to prove that he wasn't at fault.
