[PGT] Flames lose to Blues 4-3 OTL

Another coaching thing...for whatever reason this past week Sutter has been burying Dube-Lindholm-Toffoli with the toughest matchups and heavy defensive zone starts.

Tonight they had 25% offensive zone starts and ended below 20% in xGF.

Need to find a way to free them up a bit more if we expect them to produce offensively

So run with a #2 who's never played a real NHL game? And a #1 who's never carried the load in a season.

Within FOUR POINTS of the Flames are 4 other teams. Of course they won't win any games, right?

His point is it won't take 96 to make it this season...someone losses every game. Lots of divisional and conference games down the stretch.

Flames play like they have the last month and a half they will make it...if they revert to November Flames they won't

They do have a terrible record though, which if anything is a bit of bad luck.

Is it though? I feel like in high skill situations (PP, 4v4, 3v3) this team crumbles. I don’t think it’s luck that they’re bad in those situations - I don’t think they have the horses.

I never thought I would say this, well at least not since he was the GM, but I think I'm warming up to the idea of firing Sutter.

I try so, so hard to be a Sutter supporter and have long defended him but I'm right at about my wits end with him.

You said their luck will change and they will start losing those games in regulation though...their OT luck can't get any worse

No reason to think they won't keep getting OT loss points

I think the Flames will get swept if they play Markstrom in the playoffs. He is Brian Elliott levels of bad this season (actually, he’s worse this season than Elliott was here).

We should have been doing that months ago.

3-on-3 is a crapshoot. The Shootout is also a crapshoot. We suck something awful at 3-on-3, might as well take our chances at a different circus.

I don’t think they’ll get to OT as often as they are right now. We just went to OT against a Patrick Kane-less Blackhawks and a Blues teams without Krug, O’Reilly, and Tarasenko. That’s two OTL points that we won’t get against a healthy Blues team/any team better than the Blackhawks.
