For years when people were pining for a coaching change it was often because "why don't they go get the guy from Viking". Well they did that.
So where do people think/want them to go next?

A revolving door of coaches is getting tiresome indeed. Wouldn’t it be some #### if it was Peters we needed all along.

Treviling IMo did a good job in the summer with the situation despite the teams struggles now, the summer before is where he messed up.
I think he gets fired soon if this keeps up and I want a GM that takes care of business a year early and locks up guys long term before they break out. Buffalo just did this with Thompson, Devils with Hughes and Hischier.
Buffalo did it with Skinner too but Thompson deal is so good he probably more than off set how bad Skinner's deal is now.

Johnny himself said he didn't like the long negotiating process, I think this time it had a negative outcome because people started to get apprehensive. I think that's the point the parents were making when they said that Johnny would have signed sooner if he'd had the right offer.
If they had signed Johnny sooner and traded Matthew that might have been ideal especially since Matthew was acting like ylhe didn't want to be here for a while. I think because the team doesn't have a dynamic player like Johnny, it weighs on the teams confidence as they're just not able to ramp it up and score goals.
Sutters approach this season is probably a little different because of the way the team got away from the system in the playoffs last year. But him not giving the top line more reins this season might be counterproductive because now everyone is struggling. We need our top guys feeling good and having confidence but right now we can't get that from anywhere, because the team is not following a leader and feeling confident.

Markstrom is bad. The group of people choosing to defend Markstrom is shrinking by the day.

Nah, let’s not ruin his development lol. He’s our goalie of the future. Let him finish off another full season in the minors, and think about giving him some games next season or the year after. Need to be careful and patient with top prospect goalies.
Let this “win now window” of this aging core finish in the next 3 years…unsuccessfully I might add (thanks Treliving), so we can finally look forward to a proper rebuild with Wolf solidifying our crease and perhaps we can hit a home run in the draft with a middle of the pack pick, around #15, which is what we’ll be getting until this aging core finally dies out.

Markstrom should not see the ice for the rest of the month.

Because it's never given, always earned. Unless you make 6M. Then it's always given.

Markstrom can eff right off now. He has cost this team so many points with his garbage goaltending. Time to ride Vladar

Goalies with Wolfs stats get multiple games in the NHL already, giving him a couple of games won’t hurt his development

He’s been so inconsistent, but somehow his head coach keeps riding him for 7 out of every 8 games… that’s a problem.

He’s toast. For this year anyway. The oilers destroyed him last April. He needs a sabbatical to save his career.

It's clear at this point that Markstrom cannot be trusted to be the main guy this season, and it's affecting the players performance due to lack of confidence. When the one untimely/bad goal happens, the Flames are reeling in their play and structure.
The Sutter system relies on good goaltending. Markstrom isn't providing that, and has cost them team at least 10 points I would say. Valdar has to be given the reigns again, and this time with the opportunity to keep it, rather than letting Markstrom find his game.

Yeah I think he's going to be good. I too am looking forward to seeing how he plays in the big leagues, been elite everywhere he's played since he was a teenager. Hopefully gets a taste down the stretch. For right now I would run Vladar as the 1a and play markstrom every 3-4 games still.
A plan has to be made to move on from Markstrom if he can't find his game soon. It's a real shame he couldn't bring any of his elite play over from last season. Can't see a scenario where the team continues playing a sub.900 goalie in subsequent seasons, without intentionally tanking.

Not necessarily. You could make less than 1M and play if you're 6'0/200lbs or over.
