Duehr has always had great boots. He can fly.
That's about it, though.

Lucic is scoring, hitting, making plays
What's not to like?

It means that the team lacks top 6 talent. Mangiapane lackluster performance this season really distorted the balance. Havin Lucic (who didn't even score a goal this season) even being option with your two main accusations that are suppose to be the offense this season speaks volumes.

So based on what's been tried, Looch-Naz-Huberdeau is the better line.

Didn't see this post, but what I said above expresses my opinion. Those two not performing better than Looch is the problem. Maybe Dube would do as good, if not better, but don't want to distort the Lindholm/Toffoli line understandably.

But I bet you’d be surprised at how many time a goalie who finishes at, say .900 save% lets in one in the first 5 shots in a game. .900 is a goal every ten shots so it stands to reason half of those come in the first 5 and half in the second.

There you go providing basic context mansplaining again.

Hard to blame Markstrom for a goal on the 2nd shot when the Flames score on themselves

Glass half full - if Mangiapane reappears as a scorer and if Kylington returns it’s like they made a deadline deal for a scorer and a good Dman.

Wait, those were penalties??? Seems that the only criteria for calling a penalty this game are that there must be calls against the Flames.

Ref makes ridiculous calls to start the game and then puts the whistle away when the Flames take over

Just playing with numbers. It’s sorta why I dislike save % talk within the game. Markstrom “let in” one goal in 9 shots. If it had happened on shot 7 or 8 the results are the same as they are now.
I do wish they’d actually force some easy outside shots at the start of games though. As opposed to shutting down shots completely until a grade A chance. That seemed cruel.

He's not overly physical. He can drive the net but he usually doesn't have the puck often enough to do it on a regular basis. Overall, one of the weaker possession players on the Wranglers.
I'm curious to see what he can do during this stint, though.

47 first period goals for the Flames.
Most in the NHL.
Sutter teams are emotionally and mentally prepared to start games.
Edmonton Oilers? Not so much!
