If Sutter was upset enough with Markstrom's play on Sunday to the point that he called it out in the post-game presser then it makes sense for him to give Jacob the chance to respond ASAP.
Vladar is proving to Sutter that he can step in and up so I expect he'll get more starts soon.
I won't be surprised if he gets the second start against the Blues.
Ya I agree not to rush Pelletier into a game, let him practice for a bit. He is not eligible for waivers this or next year, there is no rush.
It is way easier to come into a lineup as a 4th liner with 8 minutes per game, than a top 6 guy in your first NHL game playing 12+ minutes. No issue with Duehr being the first one to play
Vladar has points in seven straight starts and been the better goaltender from game one of the season until now. It certainly raises the question as to why he's played just twice in the past 31 days. That doesn't fit the schedule Sutter gave, nor does it track with their individual performances. The guy deserves to play more and at the very least on a semi consistent basis.

Duehr isn't helping our top 9, whereas Pelletier might have a future role there. that's the current hole in the roster
it makes a lot of sense
I'm personally getting sick of this call up a skill player and grinder but only play the grinder thing they've got going on too
the gm and coaches obsessions with fringe players that has gone on for some time here doesn't make a lick of sense to me
reward the kid with an nhl game, that's great. but let's get on with addressing the real problem here - skill and finish
I understand that people are upset and I want to see Pelletier play as much as anyone else, but have fans even thought about that maybe he doesn't feel ready yet himself? He has had ONE practice with the team, juggling on the 1st line with Lindy, Toffoli and Dube.
I don't think Sutter wants to throw a rookie out there to fail just because he is not familiar with the game plan yet. Also I do not believe Sutter would say no to a difference maker and as a smart coach, he sees potential in Jakob so he will get a shot at some point

Not sure where you are looking but Markstrom has played 11 games and Vladar has played 4 games since Dec 10th (including the Chicago game). That lines up with Sutter's plan of a game a week.

Vladar has started two games since the 10th of December. This will be Markstrom's 12th start tonight. Calgary lost six out of those 11 starts.

I think his recent play suggests he should play more for sure.
But goals saved above average on the season has Markstrom at +2.4 and Vladar at -1.1
In reality they're super tight with Markstrom getting a slight edge in goals saved per 60.
