Makes to put him on the 4th line. Jakub needs top 9 minutes.

I figured that they would want to get Pelletier some practices in before throwing him out there. Making sure he is the most prepared he can be is the best way to make sure he succeeds.

Which is why he should be getting them. Walker fn Duehr is not going to make a difference to this team but Pelletier might. Demote Lucic and put Pelletier there.

I doubt Pelletier is going to make that much of a difference if any. But I’m interested to see how his point per game pace in the ahl transfers to the big club.

Eh. I’m not mad. It was pretty predictable the bigger guy would get a game before the smaller guy from Sutter. I do hope whenever Pelts slots in he can get on the top 2 lines

We will see if he gives him a shot. The GM said yesterday he wants to see what he has in the NHL after what he has done so I think that may force Sutters hand here.

I mean it's becoming clear he won't really give any of the smaller young offensive pkayers a shot but he will insert a Zohorna or Duher into the lineup.

Did Zohorna or Duher tear it up during camp?

Yeah it’s predictable but that’s part of the frustrating part. Which of those two players is more likely to be part of our longterm solution?

And Which player is likely to be a grinder but he’s older and fits the veteran mold more so he gets the first chance.

I’m not saying Pelletier won’t get a chance but I’m just frustrated and still pissed about the opportunity that was given to Phillips.

Phillips is literally the smallest player to have played a single NHL game this season, and it was Sutter that played him. It's not just that Phillips is small, it's that he is a complete size outlier. It's not a Flames thing or Sutter thing that players like that don't get a lot of rope. It's a hockey thing.

As for Pelletier, he is small, but not outlandishly small like Phillips. He is roughly the same size as successful NHLers like Bratt, Konecny, Granlund, Kane, Keller, Garland, Point, and Kucherov for example. Try finding comparable and currently successful players to Phillips, who are 5'7" and 160 lbs.

Pelletier will be given a chance.

Only one you can point to is Caufield but Caufield weights 174lbs

I understand all that. What I’m pissed about is that he didn’t get the OPPORTUNITY to succeed. I’m talking like 5-9 games with good players JUST to see. He dominated the ahl and didn’t get a real chance. Still rubs me the wrong way.

Spurgeon
Yamamoto

And there are a number of guys that are 5'8'' and 170lbs, which might as well be the same size as Phillips compared to the average-sized player. Caulfield and Marchessault aren't muscling through anyone with their extra 10lbs.

At the beginning of the season, a number of posters joked about Duehr being one of the first call-ups, but it's very sad that it actually happened.

According to NHL.com, Spurgeon is 2" taller than Phillips. Although I don't know how up to date their measurements are. They also have Phillips at 140 lbs, while the Wranglers website has him at 160 lbs.

I'll give you Yamamoto though, although he plays a bit of a feisty game at least.
