I do think he's playing well enough now, but he's got to find a way to get in tight more regularly if he's going to get himself into the 25G range. It may also just be a bad year for the guy. I don't really feel like he's been severely overpaid in any way though.

Yeah that's pretty much what I have been saying is he is not getting into those greasy areas to bang home rebounds or take the puck to the net. Look at the goal Lindholm scored yes it was a power play goal, but getting into areas like that is where the goals will be scored, not lazy shots into the crest of the goalie.

Last night the shots are 47-20 and if someone looks at that they think we dominated Chicago, yet the high danger chances end 12-12.

Haven't brought up corsi stats once.
And whose arguing the last two games? I'm talking overall season trends for the team, and how that line is playing.
From my game story last night ... you'd almost think I watched the game!

When you boil down an almost two to one shot advantage you don’t see a whole lot with what the Flames gave up tonight. The five on five expected goal splits were almost even, which is pretty poor for a game the team pretty much needed on a five game road trip. The scales tipped with the Flames having three powerplays to one, but that’s not a feather in the cap.

Your summaries are just completely off base.
Lazy?
He's a lot of things, but lazy isn't one of them.

What the hell is the difference? How can a shot be lazy if the player is hard working?

Mangiapane is a guy that needs to be in the dirty areas to get goals and hunt down rebounds.
He isn't then 35 goal we got last year but he certainly isn't this version with a guy pacing for 15 goals.

He is getting chances. The shots aren't going in.
What is a lazy shot? If he misses the net or hits the goalie, it's lazy? But if it goes in, then the player went the extra mile?

Settling for shots that go right into the goalies chest. He needs to make the extra play and get into the dirty areas.

And you think he is doing that? Why would he do that? Do you think he no longer cares about scoring goals?
As for dirty areas, do you have anything to back that up? I am pretty sure I saw him in front of the net last night, fighting for rebounds, more than once. Do you have a shot map that shows he isn't going to dirty areas?

If you're leading the team in individual scoring chances and expected goals you're in the dirty areas.

This is what I could find.
Expected goals show 11 he has 7 so that is a 22 goal pace.

And what does all that say? It looks to me like the shot map shows that he is definitely going to the dirty areas. It also shows that, for the most part, all of the stats are similar to last year, except for shooting percentage, and goals scored.
I see a player who's shooting has gone cold.
Was he playing poorly, earlier in the season? Yes, I think he was. But he is getting the chances now. He is looking more like the same player that we have seen for the last few years.
Your initial argument was to bench him. IMO, when a goal scorer is getting chances but they aren't going in, the last thing you want to do is bench them.

Might be biased based off the last few games and focusing too much on them.

Looks like Duehr will get in before Pelletier.
It's funny, if Darryl Sutter coached the 80-81 Chicago Blackhawks, would he have given a 22 year old, 5'10" Darryl Sutter who had 79pts in 88 AHL games a prominent roster spot on that team. I really doubt it.
No chance 64 year old Darryl Sutter plays 22 year old Darryl Sutter on a line with Dennis Savard and Tom Lysiak

Not sure I understand any reasoning to plug in Duehr before Pelletier. They've both played approximately the same number of professional games.
It's hard not to believe its a size thing when that seems to be the only stark difference in the players. It's disappointing from my perspective, this seeming bias toward size over skill.
