The Blues are right behind the wild card pack and have a bunch of home games in hand - they will be looking at these 2 games with the Flames as a chance to reel in one of the teams ahead of them in the standings

For the Flames, it will be an opportunity to essentially eliminate one of the teams behind them

These are the games where the Flames really need to take advantage. Anything less than 2 points tonight would be incredibly disappointing. Get it done, boys.

Flames can't afford to take any opponent for granted. Hopefully they can get out to a comfortable lead as they did against the Islanders as they need more games where they don't have to scratch and claw for 60 minutes as you need some easy nights mixed in to make the season less of a grind.

Like the game against Anaheim. Dominated the game yet we found ourselves in OT.

A couple of 4-7 goal games hopefully loosens up the sticks.

It looks like Stalock will get a consecutive start tonight....

Flames should win this one, and they have to win this one. You can’t drop points to a team like this when you’re in a playoff race.

This will officially complete 50% of the season. It would be a nice chance for the Flames to pad some stats and a nice dominating win could result in a double digit goal differential and a win would have them on pace for 94pts.

Not an overly impressive first half but I am okay with what they have done. I set an arbitrary timeline of half of the season to let this team gel. As the season goes on I expect significant improvement and anticipate this to be one of the very best teams in the league from here on out. If not I will probably be judging them more harshly than I have.

I haven’t checked if Pelletier is playing but the fact he is with the big club is encouraging and I feel like he could be the key piece missing on the Kadri line. Hopefully he plays soon

For tonight I feel confident as they are playing the worst team in the league and I feel like this group is a little more humble and knows they need the points and can’t take the Hawks lightly.

So some rumour kicking around that Bettman is looking for ways to ensure Bedard does not go to CHI because of scandal. Not sure there’s much he can do.

With the optional skate this morning, it's no surprise the callups are scratched.

The time to have punished the 'Hawks was when Bowman was still in the front office, unless you are talking about just a fine.

Personally, I am hoping the ping pong ball gods punish the 'Hawks for tanking, which I still feel is akin to game fixing....

Oh my god, Flames fans going crazy on Twitter for Pelletier not playing. Apparently Sutter needs to be fired. Like why do these people want to throw that kid into the lineup when he has not even practiced with the team

I’m unfortunately stuck in Edmonton for the night, any Flames friendly pubs I can catch the game at?
