Calgary at Chicago

Four of the victories in the Calgary Flames' surge of six wins in nine games have come away from home.

The Flames look to keep that success stirring on Sunday as they visit the Chicago Blackhawks in the opener of a five-game road trip.

"We're climbing up in the standings," the Flames' Blake Coleman said. "We're scratching and clawing to keep moving up here."

Blackhawks host the Flames in Western Conference play

BOTTOM LINE: The Chicago Blackhawks and the Calgary Flames hit the ice in Western Conference play.

Chicago is 8-25-4 overall and 6-14-2 in home games. The Blackhawks have a 5-7-1 record when they commit more penalties than their opponent.

Calgary is 18-14-7 overall and 7-7-5 in road games. The Flames have a 7-7-5 record when they serve more penalty minutes than their opponent.

Blackhawks’ Seth Jones has no illusions about hollow All-Star selection

Someone from the last-place Hawks had to be chosen, and Jones was the lucky — or unlucky — man. He’s now headed to Florida on Feb. 3-4, but he remains dissatisfied with his performance this season.

Flames try to keep rolling, Blackhawks aim to build on win

Added Coleman: "Six shots in the first isn't ideal, but we capitalized on our opportunities, which has been a bit of a miss for us in some of these games. So it's good to get rewarded on a few chances."

Kane not playing tonight. There was some speculation he might play coming back from a lower body injury

Hello Calpuck Friends! The 'Hawks O is pretty anemic without #88, and only managed 1 goal plus an ENG against the Dogs, the other night.

2-8-0 in the last 10, the only other win was against the also tanking BJs. Very much an AHL quality squad, the only thing that remains a threat, from my guys, is the above average play of the Goaltenders. Mrazek and Stalock, have been standing on their heads, while, the Blackhawks' wretched D-men allow high danger chance after high danger chance.

Offensively, the only threats are Athanaseou, Lafferty, Kuroshev, or Raddish, leaking the D-zone for stretch plays. These are often 1 and done with no follow-up or sustained pressure.

This 'Hawk fan is counting down the season for a couple of reasons, the Bears end their misery today, the 'Hawk Tank is hard to watch (and as an anti-tanker, I hope it doesn't get rewarded, substantially), and the Foss retires a 45 year Pharmacy career on March 8.

See you guys/gals in the GT, good luck to your guys.

There should be no way we lose this game. I’m betting we see Vladar in net tonight.

Not a must win. But the other 4 games on the road trip will be tough.

They might want to win this one.

3 out of 5 would be a good trip in my mind. Anything more would be gravy.

Should pair well with the Flames ability to create dangerous chances and finish! Ugh.

Feels like a trap. CHI is firmly in Bedard tank mode .

The next 3 should be winnable games before we get tested by Dallas and the demon goalie.

I watched Chicago play against Arizona the other night ... Stalock was out of his mind. He's so much fun to watch, a true throwback. Reminds me a little of Wolf with how athletic and dynamic he is in the crease.

He has a .921 on the year on that Blackhawks team after missing basically two full seasons while recovering from myocarditis. One of the best stories of the year.

Unless someone is injured it's highly unlikely they make any changes unless Sutter disliked someone's game.

It's rare for big lineup changes after a win.

Nah the Blues just lost to the Habs and are having a mediocre season. But saying that, the Blues always seem to have the flames number at home.
