Nice. I’d like to see what Pelletier can do. Hopefully he gets into the lineup depending on who they play.

I imagine Pelletier gets in at some point. I doubt they would disrupt his momentum in the AHL if they didn't have intention to give him some NHL ice-time. They will probably put Duehr in first to let Pelletier get some practices in before throwing him in.
Duehr isn't so much of a prospect as much as he is a tweener who can be a temporary placeholder. Pelletier is in the long term plans, so they likely want to ease him in.

At this point, he can't play the necessary number of games for the Flames to keep him as an RFA, so he'll be a UFA in July. If he remains in the organization will be entirely up to him.
I'd suspect Pelletier getting the recall is a chance to reward him for his strong play in the AHL more than it has anything to do with Phillips.
Any consideration given to Phillips would be about preserving his waiver status. It looks like he has spent 15 days on the NHL roster so far, which means he can spend another 15 without needing to clear waivers again (and he'd likely get claimed). This is a 10 day road trip. Recalling Phillips would burn most of his remaining waiver-safe time for maybe one or two games played.
Pelletier is still waiver exempt this season.

Sutter is going to make Pelletier sit behind the other scratches in the press box.

Pelletier is 8th in the AHL in scoring and has really taken another step, at least in the games I've seen, since a rather blah training camp with the NHL club. Duehr doesn't have high-end skill, but he's got a great motor and can bring some pace.
Either guy can probably add something to lineup if they get in.

Can Duehr skate well enough to kill penalties?

One step closer to the Huby-Dube-Duehr line.

Feels like the right time to mention it here. I love that the Wranglers are based in the same city as their parent team. Makes it that much easier for any of the call-ups to get situated and focused on the next step. 10/10 move by management groups and if there are posters here who haven't gone to see a Wrangler game I strongly encourage you to.
Good insight into the players that Brad and Co. have brought in over the years, cheap tickets, and a blast for the kids.

Seems like the right place to post this - there was a space hosted by the In the Dome Podcast on twitter earlier today, Salim joined, they got to talking about that exchange he had with Sutter about Phillips.
Salim revealed that after the cameras and mics were off Sutter said more that suggested he didn't think Phillips would be much of a player.
Lots more discussed with other speakers, supposedly there was a movie made in Finland in the past year about a Finnish Flames prospect from the 90s who got 3 NHL games in the 90s and then quit.

If Duehr resembled anyone in the Flames' system from before, I think it would have been Hathaway. Good skater, tough on pucks, and makes things happen often, but then fades. That was Hathaway to a T until he found consistency in his game, and has become a solid NHL'er. Hope Duehr becomes that. I would much rather this organization grow these types of players than overpay for them in FA.
Pelletier was completely invisible in camp and preseason. I had him pencilled-into the lineup as many others had as well. Hopefully he can get a bit more comfortable if he gets into any games, and we can start to see what he is capable of. He has always played a mature game, and seemed like one of those kinds of kids that were born pros, rather than needing a lot of maintenance and encouragement in that department. Really like this prospect.

Camp was closed to the public. Want to share how he was invisible in camp?
Was he even put in a position in games to make an impact playing with 1 or 2 nhl guys in road games against full nhl rosters?

I really think the training camp stuff is so overblown. It's such a tiny sample. I get you have to stand out but I remember when Tanner Glass was the Flames' preseason star.
