I think they have to play in order for them to have an opportunity. Popcorn is just a better pay cheque.

A one game sample size isn't going to give much indication either way. Halfway into the season and guys like Huberdeau and Weegar are still finding their way on a new team and a rookie is supposed to flash in a one or two game NHL audition? Rookies are usually set up to fail in this situation especially with a coach like Darryl that defers to experience when making lineup decisions.

Would be ideal if Pelletier steps up to take that spot
Lucic has done better than expected but he should not be on any top 6

Not sure the Flames have that individual skill to pull it off.
Tkachuk and Gaudreau had it. Don't think Huberdeau and Kadri do.
Dube and Backlund have some of it.

Disagree - making the pass into the high danger area isn't that difficult, these are NHLers that have put up points before.
To a man, they circle wide on the cycle, but refrain from trying to make the pass, carefully looking for a safe play. I think they are mandated to keep the risk of a turnover down.
They just keep doing the same thing, over and over (passing it to the point). Maybe they have all lost their hockey skill at the same time, but that seems pretty unlikely to me.

115 points and a record 85 assists for a LW and he doesn't have individual skill. Interestingly take.

Might get more...
It's a pretty good bet he gets at least a NHL debut. That's got to be pretty exciting for the kid.

I think if the oppositions knows that none of the Flames top guys are going to beat you one on one off the half wall they can take the pass away more effectively.
When you're up against an elite one on one guy you can't be sure so you have to play the middle.
Sutter's powerplay last year had Gaudreau tossing pucks right through the seem to Linholm ... why? Because they couldn't trust him to not dangle his way in.
It's a personnel issue ...

Yeah, a combined 202 points between Huberdeau and Kadri last year, both playing on 2nd lines, and they don't have the talent to make a play into high danger areas? Pretty bizarre to specifically mention those two.

He wasn't being a knob - your referral of those two guys as not having the skill to make a high danger play was a pretty hot take.

I said "that skill"
That!
The one on one beat a guy off the half wall.
Are you seeing any of the powerplay guys doing that?
Huberdeau has all the passing skill in the world, he's an elite talent. But guys aren't as open because they know he's going to pass it.

It would be a hot take if I said it!

Go back and look at what I posted, that you responded to. Now you are arguing that there is a single play that you have isolated, that you think they don't have the talent to execute. First, I don't agree with you. But second, your point is kind of irrelevant - the claim that they are not moving the puck into high danger areas covers a lot more than simply beating a player one on one from the half wall.

Slap Pelletier with Coleman and Backlund. I feel like it’s a match made in heaven to learn from those two.

I would very much agree with that, except that Mangiapane is playing better, being there. And Mangiapane is more important to get going.
Pelletier is going to have to find a different spot.

Long road trip so they are bringing an extra bottom 6 play (Duer) and extra top 6 player (Pelletier) so that makes sense.

So does this mean Phillips is essentially done as a Calgary Flame? Is he gonna be cast away like St. Louis and Byron?.

Duehr has more or less levelled out as 'tweener depth, although he might be able to parlay another NHL appearance into a Garnett Hathaway-esque career.
