What drives me bonkers about workplaces that need sick notes for 2 or 3 days is that if you're that sick, hauling yourself up to go sit in a doctor's waiting room for potentially 30-60 minutes depending on how busy it is, then be there just long enough to ask them to write up a quick note and hand over $50 for three seconds of work, is completely ridiculous.

Especially in light of what we (should have) learned through COVID. If you're sick...stay home.

I know right? What losers! If its not a life-threatening illness then what even is it amirite? Who has time for that? Nobody!

But then you've gotta haul your ass out of bed, drive to a Doctor thats probably busy, sit in a waiting room which is probably busy, all so that someone in a labcoat can confirm that you are, in fact, indeed ill, scribble on a magical notepad to attest as such.

Or...they could take your word for it.

Unless you're a Brain Surgeon trying to cough out a few extra sick days to hit the links in Cabo its probably all going to be alright.

As is much in life, its a lose/lose proposition.

You going to a Doctor to get a sick note is a giant PITA and inconveniences generally only you, the Doc at least gets paid.

Going in to work however inconveniences many and grinds many gears, you could not care about that, but unfortunately you have to continue to work with these people for an indeterminate length of time....and people hold grudges.
