They rode him to the finals. That team was not that good, other than Kipper and Iggy.
Fleury was a great player, but when the Flames won, it was more on the incredible depth of talent. When Fleury was on his own, the Flames stunk.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

It would be cool to know the top selling Flame jerseys of all time, as that is one measurement of players who attract the interest of the casual fan. If I had to guess the top four are Iginla, Gaudreau, Fleury and McDonald. Lanny probably at a disadvantage here as it seems wearing sports jerseys is more commonplace than when he played.

I think Fleury loses his spot to a builder. I'm putting Cliff Fletcher up there on mine.
Lanny, Jarome, Cliff and...
Man, I really want to put Peplinski in there for some reason.

Imagine voting for someone other than Iggy or Lanny in the first two rounds.

This one should be Theo, but based on his off the ice crap, he may not make it anymore.

The Mt Rushmore should be the players that most impacted the team, results on ice, and being an icon related to the team.

Crazy people aren’t allowed on the mountain, regardless of on ice achievements.

Being a professional athlete is a privilege, and acting as a professional on and off the ice is part of the entire package.
Most workplaces which pay you a minimum wage monitor your activity away from work, its one of the first things you get told. You start posting the garbage he does and harassing people online and going on Fox news and telling the world you are the face of a illegal occupation with people wanting to hang the PM of the country you will be tossed from that job.
Having that vile human being represent our organization in any form is disgusting, I don't care how many cups you won for us.

Anytime anyone posts something, IMO, I think we can assume it's "in their opinion".
IMO, I don't think we need "opinion police" stalking every post.

Firstly, no one won cup"s" for the Flames.
Secondly, don't be surprised if Fleury's past history of sexual abuse at the hands of Graham James has affected him to this day.
I am willing to overlook his behaviour since he quit hockey and base my opinion on his hockey playing ability.

The problem with this poll is that I’m not sure how many people here actually saw the ‘86 - ‘89 players.
Iginla
McDonald
MacInnis
Vernon
That’s my four but as I’m typing this I’m thinking about how good Theo, Kipper, Nieuwendyk, Roberts, Gilmour, Mullen, Nilsson, Gio all were as Calgary Flames. Tough choice for sure. I’m also not putting any coaches mugs up there either.

If its players only, Fleury has to be there in the 3 or 4 spot. He was an incredible player for the franchise. He also obviously overcame a lot to become an elite NHLer. There's a lot of merit in that. You can think he's an idiot, I tend to think he's an idiot, but it doesn't erase his contribution to the franchise. It's a shame that people can't put his twitter nonsense aside and give him credit for what he did achieve for the Flames. If this Flames mount Rushmore was for most illuminated human beings, then yeah, he should be nowhere near it. But for hockey performance, you can't ignore what Fleury did.

It is not Twitter nonsense. He is openly supporting terrorists in our own country. He is spewing dangerous lies. He has trashed the organization many times.
His on ice contributions are debatable as well. He put up a bunch of points on a non playoff teams. So what was his contribution to the organization on and off the ice?

Second highest points producer in franchise history is just a "bunch of points"? You clearly have no interest in speaking honestly about his hockey accomplishments.
Iginla only made it past the first round once as a Flame, and has no cup, does that diminish his hockey achievements?
You can set whatever benchmark you want for this but you just aren't speaking in realistic terms if you're trying to downplay how good Fleury was as a hockey player.

That is because the team stunk. If Kipper had been in net for those years the team was bad we wouldn't even be discussing him right now.

Show me where he trashed the organization many times? You are full of ####. His contributions off the ice is helping thousands of abuse survivors get through their struggles. Please tell me what Kipper's contributions off the ice are?
