Hull wasn't US born though- suspect his 1990 year might be the one to squeeze in if so as went 113/131, if not 1991 131/109
Kevin Steven may narrowly miss the list twice

He was the beneficiary of some beautiful passes on each of those goals.

I think most hockey fans knew we were giving up a power forward who would go on to continue to put up 100 points a season. Just need our guys to get going a bit more, but I think it is coming.

Well at least he won't disappoint in the playoffs this year!

I don't think that's true at all. I don't care enough to look back, but I remember the overwhelming majority of fans suggesting that last year he was the beneficiary of Gaudreau's amazing season and would fall back down to an 80-90 point player this season.

I think I said it earlier in this thread but it wouldn't impress me if Chucky got 150 points in the regular season, if he also continued to underwhelm in the post-season.
Once he can maintain PPG in the playoffs, it'll be hard to say he's not elite.

Only 40 players in the NHL have scored at a PPG pace or greater, and about half of those played in the 80's. It's a pretty high bar to achieve when scoring typically goes down. Even Jagr was a hair short a PPG in the playoffs over his career.

Admittedly it's a somewhat arbitrary bar. Maybe it should be more like 0.75. Point is, how many great regular season players are there in the NHL who can't raise their game in the playoffs? And how will that affect their legacy?

That was me for sure.
Thought we'd see 75 points from him going forward.

John Gaudreau was -1 with 0 shots on goal last night in a 4-0 loss to Ottawa.

We saw first hand that the guy had massive talent and the only thing keeping him from being a top 10 player was his below average skating. To his credit he's fit in there incredibly well compared to a lot of other players that change teams. Also it's probably helping him a lot that there's less defensive structure in Miami compared to Calgary and he's playing a full 2 minutes more per game than at any time in his Flames career.

I don't think anyone ever questioned his hockey IQ but his ability to step into a new team, new coach, new system and produce has been pretty impressive. I don't know how much "truculence" he's provided but the offensive numbers have exceeded expectations.
