I knew the Flames would lose when I heard the Jets had a bunch of rookies in their lineup. They have a tendency to feel they can take the night off when that happens

I am really getting sick of the negativity around here - that was a great game, and a great road effort by the Flames. Could have gone either way. And what do we get? Half the posts are people whining about stuff that isn't even valid

By my napkin math counting up GF and GA per game each goalie started:

Markstrom:

GF AVG: 2.88
GA AVG: 2.74

Vladar
GF AVG: 3.38
GA AVG: 2.76
could be as simple as Markstrom getting the tougher opposition

LOL it is you that has no case. The stats back up that Hellebyuck was the better goaltender tonight. Arguing against that is silly and futile. I will mention again that this loss isn’t because Markstrom was bad and more that the teams were fairly equal tonight and one goaltender was elite and the other just good.

I'm not saying he's always bad, or was bad tonight. I'm saying he doesn't do his job to the level that his contract implies, relative to most (all?) other players in the league at his position.
You're really just making things up now.

The stats only matter in a vacuum. Markstrom made a number of marvelous saves and IMO was the best Flame tonight.

They played to each other's level but one team got the breaks.

the stats only prove the case if the shots are equivalent

in a single game, they are not - and they weren't tonight

over larger sample sizes, that averages out. In a single game it does not.

arguing that he wasn't as good because the other guy made more saves is as naïve as it gets

I dont have the time to cross reference each teams win% they started again but by the quick eyeball test looks fairly even to me.

The Jets broadcast on TSN gave quite a bit of praise to the Flames and the game itself, mentioned many times how much of a playoff type game it was. Really could've gone either way.

You are being purposely obtuse here.

Hated Markstrom tonight. The most important question? Why didn’t he play bigger on that last goal? I mean physically. Why wasn’t he approximately 1 ft wider head to toe? He should make his glove hand as big as a pizza. He’s tall enough I guess. Would prefer if he was 6’10” and honestly I don’t understand why he doesn’t grow.

Disappointment all around.

I am not discussing it any further, statistics are not valid until the sample size is significant enough to make them so

If you want so say you didn't like Markstrom's game, go ahead. But using the shot stats to support your position has zero validity

Do they expect Huberdeau to carry Lucic for the rest of the year?

What a waste

The line has been useless for awhile now
