Nobody here is calling him out, though. He’s not reading any of this. And because nothing has changed in the last year, periodically bringing it up doesn’t really have any conversational value, it’s just for the people who bring it up to remind everyone how they feel about it.

Which is fine, but I also think it’s fair to be annoyed by repeated attempts to take the thread off topic for no other reason than people suddenly feel compelled to do it.

You still don't get it don't you? We are not complaining about people pile on OV, we are complaining piling on in this thread. I honestly don't give a hoot what he do outside of hockey. He's free to associate with whomever he wants.

Pile on all you want, but do you have to do it in this thread? I'm sure there are enough of "you" in here that a new political OV thread won't be sitting lonely.

Man, some of you are so weird with trying to control a message board. Social Media moves a million miles a second, what's said at 1pm rarely registers at 2pm. Message boards move like molasses in comparison.

I look at it like this - It's a great topic in regards to Ovechkins quest for the goal record and the political discussion. I've enjoyed both aspects and both discussions combined haven't led to more than a couple dozen posts in a day, lol. Just lighten up and read the stuff you want to read and tale the 5 milliseconds to skip over the stuff you don't want to read, sheesh.

I haven't liked Ovechkins support of Putin not just this year but historically, as it goes beyond "required support to keep family safe" and more into "I love thy leader!!!!" territory and that's fine, I can feel that way. But through the political discussion I've rethought some things and enjoyed some points made by PepsiFree and others.

And get this? There's still tons of bandwidth left AND it still takes like 3 seconds to scroll past political discussion if you don't like it.

I'm not starting any new threads, I rarely do. I'm the one saying this thread is fine as is, as it doesn't get a lot of new posts over the course of a day, lol.

My whole point was middle aged guys get all butt hurt on message boards, trying to police what is talked about and not talked about, which I find comical as there is so little content on most message boards these days, CP included.

Also pointing out that the political discussion has been useful and interesting to me, and I'm sure others as well. Just read the posts you want to and skip the ones you don't, life is so much more simple than you're making it. It's so hilarious people can't do that.
