If anything Pelletiers agent would be telling him to work his a## off and prove he belongs in the NHL because if he doesn't Sutter won't play him based off draft position or getting goals in the AHL. Things like closing in on checks and positioning are just as important to this coach. And this is something we are complaining about?
I would say this is an accurate assessment. Sutter was brought in to win, not build, and he is doing his best to accomplish the task. He's a solid coach, definitely one of the best at getting the most out of guys. Unfortunately, his ability to elevate compete levels can mask the reality that the components are not as accomplished as the whole. If Sutter believes a player will add to the fiber of what he is coaching, that player will see the ice.

I would love to see the guys in the AHL get a shot sooner than later, particularly Pelletier, Pettersen, and Zary, but in the long run it may be best that they aren't caught in the grind of this season and are allowed more time to develop a well rounded game. If rumors are true that there may be a Treliving/Leafs marriage in the near future, I think some of us might be surprised at how forward thinking Sutter might be in a manager's role this time around if he is given 3-4 years to build a squad of his own, and select his own coach.

i knew sutter wouldn't give him a shot, before doing something like moving looch to 2nd line you would think he would have tried phillips in the 2 games against san jose.

Looch has been good since he was sat and he kick started that line clicking so what's the beef?

I think most would agree he is a great coach and certainly has a better track record then as a GM. If you are looking to fill the gap from Treliving leaving, why not find a GM that is aligned with him, rather then downgrading both positions?

It's not Sutter's talent scouting or hockey knowledge that are the problem, it's his temperament. He'll trade a player because he can't bench them. No thanks

That's how conversation and debate is supposed to happen. You make a point, then the other person counters and outlines the flaws in your logic. It's called rhetoric and used to be taught in middle school.

Sometimes...,but sometimes it is okay to respect other peoples opinions.

Agreed, when they are presented with respect, which includes not insulting the intelligence of others. The edgy one-liners and vacuous posts that say nothing are not acceptable if you're trying to state a valid opinion. I can accept opinions if they have substance to them. Too many posts are just broccoli farts in a crowded elevator.

Conroy essentially said this in his interview with Boomer. You just can't have a GM that gets so emotionally hot and cold with players.

So, is Zohorna up or down? I can't tell because it's just pages of fantasy GM talk.

Zohorna is up. He practiced with the team today.

Why when we’re winning? Most coaches don’t touch things when it’s working.

I’m guessing it’s their development strategy for the two players. But I’m curious as to why Zary and Peletier haven’t gotten a game or two yet. They are both at a point per game pace in the AHL.

They have more offensive upside than Zohorna and aren’t 150 lbs like Phillips. Those are the two prospects I’m interested in seeing. Zohorna is Ritchie 2.0

Anyone know where the Treliving to the Leafs rumour originated?

It's not a rumour. Someone just put it out there as a prediction.

I don’t think it’s an actual rumour. Just a “bold prediction” kind of thing from a reporter, based on contract statuses.

I think it was just speculation from Selim based on both Treliving and Dubas being on expiring contracts and there being no talk at the moment of extensions.
