I know he's pretty unlikable but could you imagine the Jays swooping in on Correa now that he's back in limbo. Give him a Twins style contract with an opt out again.
Guy is projected for 5.5 fWAR.
Move Bo to 2B and win a lot of baseball games.
Boy would that be fun.

I expect Merrifield and Biggio to also get some starts in the OF. KK and Springer will need their rest days and are also often injured. Both of those guys are shaping up like solid utility players who can spell out 2B/1B/OF one of them a righty and the other a lefty. And when it comes to Biggio I wouldn't forget the shift change rules and how they might help him get back on track as a LHB pull hitter.
To me the Jays might give up a little on offense, so instead of being top 1 or 2 in pretty much every offensive category as a team, maybe they drop to just merely being a top 5 offensive team. But that can easily be off set by going from being a middle of the pack defense to potentially a top 5 defensive team. Plus, keep in mind the positive effect being a strong defensive team can have on you pitching overall, as the pitching staff as a group shouldn't have to attain so many more extra outs with the defense not giving them away like candy. That means less pitches being thrown by lower quality arms over the course of a long season.

A bounce back year from Vladdy could make the offense that much more potent on his own, too.

He's probably the guy I dislike the most in the league. The arrogance is quite something. But I'd do a deal in a heartbeat if it meant getting Bo to play 2nd. That said, there is almost no way he takes a 1 or 2 year show me deal that's been speculated online. He's shown he's an excellent player (really hate saying that). A bird in hand and all, and when he's dropped from IIRC a 15 year deal to a 12 year to now a 1 year deal? I don't think he'll do that at all. I'd wager some team out there will offer him an 8 year deal with less money and he'll take that bird in hand.

Yeah for sure, I was thinking more along the lines of the deal he signed last year with the Twins. Multi year deal with an opt out so if he has another strong season he can go big contract hunting again next year, but then still have the insurance of a multi year deal if he has an off year.
Probably won't happen either way, but fun to think about.

I definitely get why people don’t like Correa. But he’s not arrogant in the way guys like James Neal or A Rod are. He is ride or die for his teammates and they love him. He was definitely one of the cheaters but no more than Springer. Neither player took much accountability, but Correa was definitely defiant and said some dumb things.
It sure sounds like he wants the Mets. If he goes shorter term a la the Twins deal, don’t know why the Mets wouldn’t do that.
He’d be just what Toronto could use.

He wants a long term deal and knows if this one doesn't go, he isn't getting offered another one this off-season.

Based on his injury, I can see him budging more significantly on AAV than on term. He might end up at 10 years at $27-28m AAV.

Devers for 11/331. Is this what a Bo extension looks like? Or a Vlad one?

Probably around what both are going to get. I’m very much against handing out those long term deals for anyone, but specifically Vlad’s size gives me worries about going that high. Annual value seems about right if not cheap given this years money thrown around.

Another reliever that can hit triple digits and sits in the high 90's
Between Julio Fernandez, Junior Fernandez and Merryweather, hopefully at least one of them can figure things out.

Junior Fernandez has very intriguing stuff. Interestingly, his FIP was significantly higher at 5.79 than his ERA (2.41) was last year. Regardless, these are the kind of pickups that can allow the bullpen to quickly become comparable to the O’s or Tigers’ pen last year.

Fellas, I’m not well versed in the economics for the Jays. What about Zack Greinke? I imagine he’d be pricey. He can be absolutely dominant, albeit a bit weird.
Thoughts?

Grienke is a guy who these days can really only go 4 or 5 innings. He had a huge difference between his expected ERA and actual ERA. I think his Fastball is like 4th percentile. So I'm not sure how that will fare in a Division that's more hitter friendly than the AL Central.
Savvy veteran who has a lot of tricks in the bag for sure though.

Greinke has reinvented himself a couple times. I believe I read somewhere his drop in velocity was his choice vs his physical capability dropping off. I do like the guy a lot but in a big market you’re really playing a lottery with how his manual health will react to the extra media scrutiny. As a reliever I can’t see much pressure on him aside from his name. I wouldn’t mind seeing what he could do though. He just plays by his own rules and I think at his age he’s pretty well respected by teammates vs when he first started his career.

Jays added some depth today.....
Couple are former Jays

Nice to see Hutchison back with the Jays. Jays really maximized the value of Hutchison. Pitched his “prime” years with the Jays, got Liriano for him, which turned into 10 WAR Teo, and now Swanson and a prospect. Very Tampa Bay Rays-like.

I like the Hutchison pick up. Last year, they really needed arms in the minors who could be called up and start. I think Hutchison will be the first one to get called up when we need a starter and that is a massive improvement over the options last year.

Bauer released by the Dodgers yesterday.
I wonder if anyone signs him.
They'd be getting a Cy Young quality ACE starter for league minimum.
