I knew they shut down, didn’t realize they were having such a hard time. Damn that sucks because yeah it was great to have.

Yeah this sucks. It was a block from my office at Calgary Place and I enjoyed the convenience of getting a slurpee when I was actually downtown working.

Not sure what the exact deal is, but the Rose and Crown is shutting down. They were not replacing stock, so down to 2 beers on tap and weird liqueurs and such on the 23rd. I understand another pub/restaurant group is buying it.

I believe that the Metropolitan Grill is done as well. I was there last Tuesday and they were out of a few things and the waitress said they were done on Friday and weren't restocking.

Bought by the group who owns Barcelona. Rebranding and reopening.

Reportedly, Abercrombie & Fitch in Chinook is closing to be replaced by a Uniqlo.

I always thought Saks would close first.

That is great! I"m actually going to Edmonton today to goto Uniqlo.

I haven't been in Chinook other than the theatre in 15 years

Is the quality any better now? Uniqlo is like a Japanese R&W. Everything I bought in Japan a few years back was initially really nice looking, but after a couple washes it looked like thrift store fare and became disposable. IKEA clothes.

My Uniqlo Japan stuff from 2017 (a few pairs of underwear, two pairs of jeans, cargo shorts, and a dri fit shirt) still look like new after wearing and washing it regularly for years.

Rose and Crown was the Cavalry supporters pub the last 4 years.

They were so good to us in 2019. But then they fired their bar manager and turned over most of their staff last summer and it was a massive struggle to get anyone at the bar to care about Cavalry games after that.

Which sucks because we spent so much damn money there...

I've had so many good times there, but its a tough go downtown at the moment.

It's mostly for my kids but I'm still wearing most of my outerwear stuff I got in HK 7 years ago.

They aren't shutting down. I think the current owner is getting up there in years, and is ready for retirement and sold it. They're definitely staying open, just going through the transition.

It was for mice. The building is a few billion years old, the inspectors helped them improve their trap placements.

That may be true, but they were literally running out of booze. I suspect the place will be shut down for some thing me while the new owners redo the interior and restock.
