And yes, I've been dabbling in the Japanese varieties tonight. Sampled a Nikka Coffey whiskey and a Yamazaki 12 year. I recommend both very highly.

I had that last night. I need to switch it up, especially on the smokey whiskies, otherwise my palate takes a beating and I can't really taste the finer details anymore.

What Japanese whiskey do you recommend for someone who hasn't tried one?

Nikka Coffey Malt is one of my top five. I’m drinking Matsui Mizunara tonight which I recommend.

Well...that was a terrible shift to start the 2nd. Really struggling to keep up and defend there.
You begin to wonder if fatigue is now setting in after a game last night with travel.

The ones I mentioned earlier, and then Shibui is pretty good as well.
Their style is different. They are far more subtle, but have very well developed flavor. They focus a lot on blending rather than pure single malt methods.
It's worth a try. I think they are unique and tasty.
